Cost: Average for non-Vermont residents at $18 dollars for adults and with a full-price ticket, a second consecutive day is free. You may need it if you plan to do a lot or look around thoroughly. Tickets are half-price for Vermont residents, but you will need ID. I got in with my driver's license.

This is listed as something to do before you die, and I understand why. There's an wide variety of things from a lighthouse to a steamship to gardens to a schoolhouse and jailcell. It's almost like a living museum. It's mostly outdoors, so good weather is best for a great visit. There's plenty for everyone to do. And with any museum, there's a giftshop if you're so inclined.</p>
