You can fly directly to N. Ireland, but i chose taking the ferry. For this i took a cheap (Ryan Air) flight to Glasgow Prestwik (PIK) and then a train to the port of

Stranraer
in Western Scotland. I purchased the ticket for the train and ferry online with this company called Stenaline.

If you fancy driving, you can ferry it across as well.

Worth the cost. Its a 3.5 hour ride, so make sure you have company (friends, partner or books?!).

The size of the boat was not obvious from the boarding point (feels like boarding a plane). It is only when i saw the space inside that i realized its size.

Quite an excellent journey!
