Ok, what could I possibly say about a Holiday Inn Express that you wouldn't already know?...

Well, for starters, getting here: As you come down Northwoods Blvd, the Holiday Inn Express is going to be a little hard to see until you're pretty close to it. As you pass the Home Depot (on your right), and the Marriott - Residence Inn (on your left) start paying attention to the right hand side of the road. Almost directly accross from the giany ice skating rink will be the entryway to the HIE parking lot. It's really easy to miss. The hotel is located on a right hand curve, and there's lots of trees hiding the entry. But don't worry, if you go too far, you'll end up looking right at the back of the Northwoods Mall, just turn around, the HIE is a couple hundred yards behind you.

If you come to the hotel late at night the inner atrium doors will be locked. You'll have to press the button, located on the right wall, to alert the night clerk that you're there. Also, all of the exterior doors to the hotel are always locked - you will need your room key to get in, day-or-night.

During the evening hours there is a security guard that walks around the property, just keeping an eye on things. Don't get the wrong impresion, this isn't a dangerous place - as far as I know.

There are pleanty of places to eat nearby, getting food will not be a problem. If you feel like walking, there is a Japanese, Thai, or American Barbq place right next to the hotel. If you only feel like walking a little, there is a 24-hr mini-shop in the lobby of the hotel. And if you don't feel like walking at all, lots of places deliver. There is no room service, but the hotel does put on a pretty good breakfast every morning 6:00 - 9:30 am. (eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt and fruit)

One last thing. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle, so, to get to/from the airport you're going to have to take a taxi. Cost should run you $10-$15.

By the way, check-in is at 3:00 pm and check-out is at 12:00 noon but a late check-out is available for Priority Club members. Pets are not allowed at the hotel but there is a kennel about a mile away.

Lastly, for the firness buffs, there is a small fitness facility on site with a treadmill, recumbant stationary bike, and an elliptical machine.

That's about all I can think of to write about the hotel.

well i know know my title says it all. i am in another InTown Suites in North Charleston, SC. but this is another laid back location which is always nice. as of Saturday i will head to Greenville. but this isn't a bad hotel here. people here are nice and fun to just talk too and shoot the shit with them. they have lived interesting lives. so this will be a good and easy 3 days on the trip. and the Suites are newly remodeled too and they look good with brand new A/C units...... so i recommend this one for a low income extended stay. the location is located on Rivers Ave.

This is a family owned restaurant where the owner is always at the door to greet you. They say they are a family friendly restaurant but I personally think it is more of a romantic ambiance than a place to bring children. That kinda ruins the mood. They are located in North Charleston going towards Summerville.

As you enter there is a room to the right. That would be the bar. Tucked away in it's own corner and away from the dining room.

There are two dining rooms. The second dining room, which is in the back of the first has a stage where a Jazz band performs every Thursday. They are fairly good. We've been there twice on a Thursday. It was the same music both times, almost. So, it's nothing really special for more than one visit.

I suppose you'll want to know about the food. I like the Shrimp Alfredo. My husband gets the Shrimp and Salmon Penne. It seems to always be a Special. It's very good as well. Pretty much all of their Italian dishes are tasty.

They have wine of course and a few draft beers. I forget what exactly they have, it's been so long since I ate there.

It is a friendly and cozy place with good food. You should check it out sometime and maybe on a Thursday when you can listen to some live Jazz. Be sure to get there early, they fill up quick.

This sports bar is located throughout the South East coast and Texas. They also have 1 location in downtown Charleston in the Historic District.

It gets very crowded during lunch and dinner hours and more so on weekends. They occasionally have events with local radio stations or biker’s weekend and such.

We usually start with Hot Shots, a spicy sausage & cheese pastry. They have the best bbq ribs I have ever tasted. But then, I haven't been to too many bbq joints. You can choose from several flavors in a half rack, whole rack or a sampler of 4 flavors. Wings are their specialty and wild wings they are. You can choose from 34 flavors. They offer a 25 piece sampler of 5 flavors. Their signature wings would be Braveheart, hot enough to make grown men cry. If hot and spicy foods are your thing, I dare you to try it.

If you like Ribs and wings then check them out if you happen to be in the same city as one.

I can't believe it is less than a week before I leave. I have begun getting things together, finally. I have also found out where I will be teaching when I get back. It is such a relief. I was worried that I would leave for Ghana and not have a job lined up for the upcoming school year. So, with that off my back I turn to trying to make sure that I have everything I need. I am also still thinking of different lesson I can use while in the two schools in Ghana.
