I got an e-mail yesterday (monday, June 9, 2008) from Alice that she was wondering if I could get tickets for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I think in my head...ummm, I don't know...I never tried. Alice was going to be showing Sebastian (skosch) around - he's our new adopted kid brother from Germany. I know I can get tickets, but for friends and...ummm, uh...wait a minute who's going to be on tomorrow anyway? Well I check the schedule and who do we have here? JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! Holy Frijolies! I'm not a fan of his, but I do like a couple of his songs. AWWWWW....he's not going to sing, he's promoting his movie "Love Guru." He prances around in his little underwear. Little black underwear! Oh well, who else is on...Karen Allen...the actress in the Indiana Jones films and Sheryl Crow is performing on the show and it just happens to be the day of the Mercedes Benz Summer Concert Series. Whoo-hoo!!!! So, let's see if I can get tickets. I meander across the hallway - spoke with my contact and BAM...2 tickets on hold under my name! I e-mailed Alice told her it was a go!

Fast forward to today. Alice and Sebastian arrive around 2pm - I give them a quick tour of the studios and then we have a quick bite at the commissary. We realize then that it's almost 2:45pm and I need to get them over to Guest Relations to line up for the show....we get in line, they get their tickets and I tell them where I'll meet them after the concert...I've got to earn my keep a little bit...I'll watch the show on the live feed in to my office. So, I leave them and tell them to have a blast!

After the concert, I'm standing there waiting for the two of them and we decide to take photos with Jay Leno and I was able to get some shots of the group on the stage...Whaa!!!! Whaa!!!! *sniff* *sniff* (pouty lip) :(  Rob where are you? I need your BIG GUNS!!!! My point and shoot ain't working.... HAHAHAHAH!!!!! :)

Funny thing about all of this...Sebastian doesn't even know who Jay Leno is...of course he doesn't know who he is - his show isn't on in Germany! Also a comment I heard over my shoulder when the guests were on stage with Jay...someone stated, who's that young guy next to Jay? Duh....it's Justin Timberlake!!!! OMG!!!!

After the show, we decided to meet up with Tracy and Jenn at an excellent Thai place in Hollywood! The Palms. Good food with good friends! Love you guys! Oh yeah, at the Palms they have an Asian Elvis impersonator (Go figure?) but he didn't perform tonight...I might have to come back...for the food or is it for the Asian Elvis?

Another day at the studio...nothing big happening. Mercedes Summer Concert Tour happening today at the "LOT!"

Who is playing today...USHER...not a real big fan but hey it's Usher...BIG TIME!!!! He was here to promote his song, "Love In This Club" and that his album just went to #1! Whoo-Hoo!!!! Cool for him! I invited Rob to come over and enjoy the summer concert with me and enjoy a nice leisurely afternoon at the studio with me prior to him leaving for a business trip tomorrow...of course, I did tell him to break out the big guns - the 40D Canon camera with the telephoto lens so that he could take some awesome photos of the guests on the show today...hee, hee, hee!

We had Liv Tyler - promoting her new movie "The Incredible Hulk", Jude Apatow - producer of Super Bad, 40 Year-Old Virgin, Knocked-Up and many other movies that I can't remember the titles of...but best of all Usher was on the lot of perform a mini live concert for the Mercedes Summer Concert Tour! What an energizing performance. So, I hope you all enjoy the great photos that Rob took! What a sweetheart! Love you Rob - thanks for all the photos!

Hmmm...who's here tomorrow?

Average day at the lot, nothing much happening, but at 3:27pm I received a red phone call...emergency. Protocol states that I go directly to Security who will then escort me to wherever the emergency is. Armed with my emergency bag, AED (automatic electric defibrillator) and stethescope, my Administrative Assistant and I quickly walked off to Security. We arrived within 3 minutes to Security and were quickly escorted to the "Tonight Show's" stage. Another Security guard stated the Green Room...in my mind I'm thinking what's going on? I walk in and Jay Leno is sitting there to my left and Adam Sandler is lying on the couch. His bulldog sitting on the floor next to him...watching him and then turning to look at me. Jay asked what I was going to do. I said I'm going to check out the patient. I attempted to get people out of the room, but no one was moving. How do I assess the patient? I attempted to check Adam Sandler's blood pressure and asked him to be quiet, but he wouldn't stop talking to Jay - I attempted to triage Adam, but due to privacy issues I couldn't get into too much detail...also, he still wouldn't stop talking to Jay. Therefore my assessment skills were shot to "hell" and I made the judgement call that I was not needed there! I asked him to sit up and asked how he felt. Adam stated he was fine and then gave me a sweet compliment of "at least I have a nice-looking nurse to look at. You know you're nice looking?" I felt my cheeks blush and I just looked down and said, "uhh...yeah thanks!" He stated thanks as well and then complimented me again for being nice looking... Walked out of the Green Room and walked right into Hillary Duff, she smiled and was polite...I guess, I looked like I had some authority with a stethescope around my neck...funny....a day in the life...

Mercedes Summer Concert Series kicked off last week on the Tonight Show...outdoor concert this afternoon featuring Reverend Al Green. Got to see the practice session...sounded great!

At the end of the concert, bumped into Adam Sandler again; asked if I could take a photo with him and he said, "sure, you're the lady who made me feel better!" Cool!

Well...I'm not a big fan of any sports, but today I had an opportunity to meet a basketball player - do I dare just call him a basketball player? I had the opportunity to meet Charles Barkley. Who is he? Yeah I believe he's a basketball player and he was at the lot today. My Administrative Assistant was excited to see him, she wanted an autographed cap so she could give it as a gift...so I decided to head out there and take her photo.

Well, they asked me if I wanted a picture opportunity also...well...of course! Why the hell not? so, I stood up next to him and he got a good grasp of me on the side and said, so what do you do here? Noting my badge and all...I replied; I'm the nurse here on the lot and he pretended to cough....yeah right! So here is the photo of me and Charles Barkley! Who the hell is he? He plays basketball? OK! Enough said!

Haven't really been paying attention lately to who I may see this week...haven't seen any particular names that send up red flags to me...but I noticed a certain name on the list - I thought...hmmm, not bad. Keanu Reeves. Speed. Matirx. Constantine. Devil's Advocate. Lake House. Movies I have enjoyed. Well, should I take the time to see if I can see him...well... I found out that a fellow co-worker likes Keanu Reeves; so we decided to march over there and see if we could take  a photo with him.
Yeah, he tried to play coy...saw him enter the limo and was ready to leave, when he stopped in front of some of his fans and decided to do a photo op!
Way cool! My co-worker and I decided let's take this opportunity to try to meet him...well low and behold, we did! So here's a  photo of me and Keanu Reeves!

Well I am fortunate enough to have some good things happen in my life and this was one of the good things that happened to me today! My pretend little sister "jillianj" (www.travbuddy.com/jillianj) had once asked me, "if you ever have the opportunity to see John Krasinski (from the TV show The Office and new movie coming out with George Clooney - Leatherheads) let me know...how would I have a chance to see him? (grumble, grumble) Number 1, I don't even know who he is..., Number 2, I don't watch TV and I don't have a chance to go to the movies... and Number 3, how the he** am I going to have a chance to see him? Yeah, I work in SoCal  (Southern California) where Hollywood and the movie industry is,  etc...but I'm nowhere near that field in how I make my living!

Well last week sometime, a name caught my eye; John Krasinski - is that the name that "jillianj" stated? Isn't that the guy she has a huge major crush on? I rushed to the travbuddy website and asked her! Yes, that's the guy! She was jumping up and down and doing the best "Flashdance" dance moves she could - singing or rather typing, "I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm about to lose control and I just can't hide it!" Well, I told her I would see what I could do. (Sneaky aren't I? I already knew what I was going to do!)

The day came! It was today! Wednesday, March 26, 2008! She's lucky because usually my weekdays and my weekends have been full with other activities that I forget things that I plan or want to do!  I printed out the sign, that said, "Hi there JillianJ" and headed over to where John Krasinski was going to be! I did tell her that I would try my best and see what I could do, BUT if he was an a**, then who knows what will happen. So I marched on over there and waited, and waited, and waited - no just kidding, well I did just for a bit, but in the meantime I got to take my photo with Jay Leno who was there also and realized what a sweetheart he was as well. It was a very warm afternoon and I was sweating from the heat - I thought to myself, "he better hurry up, because it's HOT out here!" Eventually he came out of the stage doors and a co-worker of mine said there he is, I said no that's not him and as we argued back and forth she was right; that was him! I didn't recognize him because he was wearing a suit during the interview and now he was in jeans and a baseball cap! Who knew?  I went up to him and explained that my friend  "jillianj" from www.travbuddy.com/jillianj  had a crush on him and couldn't be here - could he please hold the sign that I had printed and allow me to take a photo of him so I could send it to her! He was very sweet and obliged! In fact, he even autographed it for her without hesitation! After that happened, I decided to take a photo with him also and confessed to him...that I really didn't know who he was and that the only reason I knew of his name was because of "jillianj."

So, now...how am I supposed to relay this event to "jillianj?" I wanted her to be SURPRISED!!!!!! This is the actor/future actor husband/love of her life at the moment...how am I going to tell her? Well, I contacted "pearcetoyou" 1/3 of the 3JXPRESS (jillianj - jillian, pearcetoyou - james, and me pvtjoy - joy) and told him what I had just done. I wanted to surprise her! So, I told James that I was going to pretend that I couldn't take a photo, or couldn't see him, etc...and just surprise "jillianj!" I called "jillianj" and left her a voicemail to call me back as soon as she could - I tried to sound sad on the phone and wrote her an e-mail stating that I was sorry, I tried my best - but didn't send her the photos yet!

When she finally returned my call, I asked her if she was near the computer and she said she was...I told her I would send her the "snap shots" I took of her "man" and that I really tried my best! She was so concerned that I sounded sad on the phone that all she could say to me was, "it means a lot that you even tried" (little did she know at the time that I got more than she wanted!) So, I sent her the e-mail and was on the phone with her as she received the photos - yes she was speechless and yes she was..."I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm about to lose control and I just can't hide it!"

So this is for you my "lil sis" - so glad to have met you on Travbuddy!

Oh no!!!! Another adventurous sighting at the lot! Lordy, Lordy, Lordy! who do my eyes fall upon! DAVID BECKHAM!! What a HOTTIE!!!!! ALL 5'10" of him! OK,..may be taller, but he didn't look that tall! Slim physique...GREAT ABS! even though I didn't see them - he's on the billboard on Sunset Boulevard! No Posh Spice was not with him...thank goodness,,,even though she is the epitome of style (?). David was supposed to sign autographs and allow some photo taking but he had other commitments! Skip the interview with Ellen Degeneres...don't you see me? I'm standing right here. I was about to have my photo taken with him (see photo above) but all you can see on the far left side of the photo is a few strands of my hair - but look at how he is looking at me (swoon) - I think I'm getting the vapors!  His entourage was a pain in my ass - but totally ok - got some great shots of him on his way to the Ellen Show. I was walking right behind him and noticed that he is just dreamy! Never knew who Beckham was...until after "Bend it like Beckham" and even after that, would have never really known what he looked like - if he wasn't splashed all across the tabloids with his wife.

I tried to get some good photos, but...maybe next time!

OK...actually not really wearing black, but the bomb squad guys are in black. The CIA are in gray suits with their aviator sunglasses. Always loved a man in uniform. Today is an unusual day. I guess it's because Senator Hillary Clinton will be around. No photo opportunities for this meeting. She'll be whisked away from the Tonight Show taping to the Ellen show taping. It's alright, I know you have to have tight security if you're in her shoes. At least, I was able to take a photo of the set that she'll be using on tonights show!

That's my opinion anyways. Tony's is awesome. I think its better than the much championed Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock. Red leather booths, Sinatra in the background, the Soprano's lookin dude that works the front. Oh and the pizza is amazing. I took my family there when they came into town and they were impressed. Fancy it is not. A killer pie...absolutely. Its always in the CitySearch top 10 pizzas of LA.

First of all, I am a big WB fan, so I had a wonderful time. It was like disneyland to a 5year old. I definatly recommend going to the studios for the tour if you are a big fan of nearly any tv show. I did the tour twice and each time was different, and I enjoyed each time. The first time I went we got to see the actual set from the show Friends, sit on the couch and take our picture. Cameras are allowed and kids must be atleast 9 I think, you may need to check before you go if you are taking any children, they are allowed but they have to be a certain age. They have a really cool Harry Potter musuem they the children and also any Harry Potter fans will enjoy. They take you in groups and you ride a little trolly the hole time, only getting out on foot a few times.

So we finally made it to L.A around 1.pm and we drove directly to Burbank where we were gonna see The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. We drove down parked the car and went in to NBC tickets office to see if they still had some tickets for todays show. We were in luck... or were we?? but we got the tickets and they said that we should come in early in the cue. But that was still a couple of hours away so we drove around to see if we could find a place to stay for the night. After a while we found a motel where we booked 2 rooms for the night and then headed down to the NBC studios to get in line... I must say that waiting in line in that heat is s some of a test for a Scandinavian thats use to its always cold... man..... I felt like I was melting..
I know that the on the pictures all of us are in the shade, but that shade disapeared after a while and then it was just sun sun sun sun.... So we bought something drink and a couple of sandwiches while we waited.. But when we get in it was like going from HOT to FREEZING COLD.... wooooow!!! man Im like only wearing shorts and t-shirt, so it got cold pretty quick... never the less its always fun to be at the Tonight Show... Jay Leno is a funny guy and I think that the others enjoyed it aswell.. so lets call it a succes!!!

After the show we drove back to the motel so we could check in for the night, but when we got there they only had 1 room left, and I asked how that could be possible and she said that I only booked 1 room... why would I do that when I know that we are 4 travelling... Well we drove off and looked for something else for the night!!! Cause tomorrow we where going to check out the Hollywood sign and pay Universal Studios a visit!!

HEE HEE my friend and i went to Kwik e mart today thinking it would be not busy because the movie opened today. nope we were wrong. the line was out the door around the side of the building. it was 2pm. most of the people in line saw the midnight show. we had a good time taking pics and buying buzz cola, pink donuts and radio active man comics. unfortunately, they ran out of kusty-o's cereal. eeeeek i wonder how much ebay is selling it. the burbank location was 10mins. from my mum's house. it will be around til july 31 2007 then it's back to 7-11.

The 7-11 at the intersection of Olive and Verdugo in Burbank has temporarily been converted into a Kwik-E-Mart. It was re-done late Saturday night and will remain a Kwik-E-Mart for the next month to promote the upcoming Simpsons movie.

Eleven 7-11s in the United States and two in Canada have been converted into Kwik-E-Marts as part of the promotion. DCist has their very own Kwik-E-Mart in Bladensburg, MD.

Golam, Burbank's friendly counterman, was having a lot of fun shouting, "Welcome to Kwik-E-Mart!" as each customer walked in. The other employees were rushing to re-stock cartoonishly pink donuts while the 7-11 rep made frantic calls on his cell phone demanding more Buzz cola, "Send me everything you've got! It's ALL gone. Everything."

Other promo materials are Krusty-Os, Kwik-E-Mart styrofoam ice chests, Radioactive Man comic books, and Squishee cups (No Duff beer, unfortunately).

Watch for specially marked merchandise to enter a contest to appear in a Simpsons episode.

7-11 has hired security to handle the anticipated crowds, and the news vans were already pulling up as I was leaving at 4am. I have a feeling that perky, "Welcome to Kwik-E-Mart!" is going to sound pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

Back in Burbank, the place were I grew up.
