I haven't had one bad experience with restaurants in Reykjavik, Italia is no exception. The pastas, soups and pizzas (from a real open fire oven :)) were very good. Service is very friendly and fast. I would definitely recommend to have dinner here, a reservation is also recommended, especially during the weekend.

I'm glad I found this great bar in Reykjavik, great music (rock), a dj during the weekend (also rock ofcourse). The beers are fine, the crowd is relaxed and a mix of locals and some tourists of all ages. Inside it's dark with a lot of wood, that gives a warm feeling during wintertime. In summer Dillon has a beergarden outside.

For this money (less than 30 euro per room per night), this hotel just is a fine deal. I read some horrorstories about the place but I must say I don't agree with those. Yes, the rooms are quite small, you won't get clean towels every day, and the rooms could be cleaner. But hey, you're in Iceland, you shouldn't be spending time in your hotel anyway except for sleeping and showering.
The location is perfect, the beds are fine (maybe some would like a softer matress), there's a hot shower, what else do you need?

Recommended for those on a budget, and/or those with not too many demands.

Finally, a relaxed day without getting up early for a tour or so. I headed for the Blue Lagoon around 2pm and got back at 9pm. It's an ultimate feeling to sit outside in 40C hot blue water with a blizzard going on enjoying a cold beer :) Makes you jealous, huh?

Back to Reykjavik to get a quick dinner (pizza) to make it in time for the next tour: the Northern Lights tour. It was cancelled twice already and the conditions were great for this day. We headed ou to Thingvellir, but although there was something, the Northerb Lights just didn't show their colors... :(

Probably the best excursion I took. A trip by a kind of Dakar rallytruck to Þórsmörk (Thor's woods), a beatiful place between three glaciers. I saw a glacier coming all the way down into the valley, a little but very nice canyon, an Elf church (Icelanders believe in them), some stunning views, and the best lunch spot ever: the Basar hut.

A beautiful waterfall, in total 32m high. The best thing about this one is that it falls in two steps whic are at an angle of about 45 degrees. You can even walk all the way up (slippery in winter though). Incredible things like this fall are hard to capture on photo though, but this is the fact with the whole of Iceland I guess. It's called the golden waterfall because the water is brownish of all the soil it takes off the glaciers.

The site of Iceland's first parliament Althingi (in use till around 1800), nowadays the parliament is still called the same. This national park and Unesco world heritage site is actually where the American and Eurasian continental plates drift apart with a speed of around 2 cm a year. The valley is about 6km wide and holds Iceland's largest lake.
