Youth Hostel Bolzano is a wonderful, clean place to stay. The beds are like heaven (which says alot for bunkbeds!). The rooms are 1, 3 or 4 bed rooms with lockers and a toilet and shower in each room. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and nice.

The hostel charges and extra Euro if you are only staying one night and they charge to rent a bath towel as well, but sometimes those extra costs are worth it. They have a common room with couches, tv, computers with internet, and snack machines. They have a ping pong table outside. Breakfast consists of rolls, cheese, meat, yougurt, cereal and juice.

The only bad thing is the noise. The train tracks are just across the street and the wheels squeak when they brake coming into town. In the early morning the traffic picks up and true to Italian drivers, horns are honking left and right. Maybe this is okay to get you up and moving in the morning but we got in really late and didn't want to wake up at 6:30 am. Other than that, it was great - perhaps the best hostel I've even stayed in. My advice? Bring earplugs.

I work for Explorica.com, an educational travel company, and this summer I had the opportunity to participate in a tour of Italy that included Rome, Assisi, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Milan, and Verona! I really enjoyed all of the cities we visited, but one stood out for its charm, history and landscapes: the small but surprising medieval town of Assisi, located on a hillside, overlooking the incredibly beautiful mountains and valleys of Umbria.

Assisi is the birthplace of St. Francis, one of the most beloved Christian saints, and the town leads down the hill to a Basilica where his body is housed. Take the time to explore this beautiful church, and the tomb below where visitors come from all over to pray and give thanks for his influence. I was very moved by the atmosphere in this church, as well as its magnificent art and architecture.

Don't forget to also visit many of the smaller churches in this town, some of them dedicated to the lesser-known Clare of Assisi who fled a life of luxury to follow St. Francis' example and establish her own religious order. There are some interesting shops in this town as well, and some very good and affordable eateries. Take your time to experience Assisi at a slow pace, absorbing all of its history and peacefulness. Sit along the edges of the town, with a gelatto or two (or five), and reflect on the simply breathtaking scenery. I can't wait to go back some day!

Milano Marittima, Italy>, Jun 21, 2008

Ride&sail born for improving cycling and sailing. My friends and me decided to establish this sport club in order to create a big group of friends practicing sport.I love sailing and my boat will be launched at the end of July.I love also cycling with mountain bike.

We maade our party at Milano Marittima, a seaside city on Adriatic Sea. East coast of Italy.

To give an idea...Milano Marittima is located at approx 100 km south/east from Bologna, not far from Ravenna city.

Some few raod indication: coming from Milano: Autostrada A1, than when you are in the area of Bologna take direction of Ancona "Autostrada A14". Keep going on the Autostrada A14 up to the exit of "Cesena Nord". When you are out, keep direction of Ravenna E45. When you are on E45 direction of Ravenna, follow the signs for Milano Marittima. From the exit of "Cesena Nord" are approx 15/20 km.

In Italy, Milano Marittima, is quite famous tks to the nightlife and for a fashion locals as "Pineta Disco Club" and "Pacifico Disco Dinner" (many famous soccer players comes to enjoy the nightlife) and various streets bars. Most famous streets bars are: "Vanquish", "Caino", "Zouk" and "Milano Cafè".

To get fun during the afternoon don't miss "Papeete Beach" (located at 3^ traversa)...from 17.30 up to 20.00 happy hour with live music and drinks. Dancing on sun lounger is a must!!!

Otherwise "Bicio Papao" other famous beach bar.

If you are a Vip looking, you should go to "Paparazzi Beach" or "Bicio Papao".

For dinner there are many different restaurant but to avboid the turist one I can suggest you a couple on names:

Restaurant "Osteria del Gallo Cedrone" good for fish; "Idroscalo" good for dinner party; "Pacifico disco dinner" not easy to get table but if you get...well this is one of the must. Food not really special but as fun nothing to say. It close at 1.30 am than eveyone moves to "Pineta Disco Club" just crossing a door.

Restaurant "Locanda del Mare" mainly fish,

Restaurant "Al Caminetto" is quite famous. High level of food and service. Mainly fish.

About hotels what to say. I can suggest "Hotel Miami" located at 3^ traversa just 30 mt from Papeete Beach, "Hotel Luxor" nice hotel, simply but cute, near the beach and center, "Hotel Waldfor" and "Hotel Palace" a 5 stars hotels for luxury people..

Milano Marittima has many locals (restaurant, streets bars, beach bars, disco etc...) and good nightlife but honestly speaking, if you are looking for beautiful sea...well, don't go there. It's not like Sardinia or Sicily...the water is ok, just for having a dive, but will not be impressed in the memory. To spend a good holiday with wonderful sea, Islands as Sardinia, Sicily, Eolie, Isola d'Elba or southern cost of Italy are better.

What else to add...I don't know at the moment, but in case you need some more information...well do not hesitate, ask me...I'll be pleased to help.

Ciao

It's a very nice hotel all in all. It's located in the heart of Sorrento (150 meters from the main square "Piazza Tasso") and many sights, cafes and restaurants are close at. The price for the room is very low considering that it's a 3 star hotel - one night there costs only around (37.50 - 55 €) . The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable and I liked the bathroom facilities alot. They also serve an excellent breakfast with among others, fruits, cold cuts, cereals, yogurt and made to order eggs and crepes.

The hotel is family run and the staff is very friendly and they do their best to make you feel welcomed.

My brother and I spent few days in Rome we were at this hotel...it isn´t so close of Termini Station but it isn´t really far from downtown. The people of the reception desk were rude.
The room and the bathroom were clean, the breakfast is good.
We "lost" a palm the last day in this hotel.

We had heard a number of "warnings" about the Termini station (the con men, thieves etc), so much so that we almost decided to cancel our train trip into Rome. But we went ahead as planned, and it was a good thing we did because we enjoyed the experience. It's important that you don't go out of your way to look like a tourist (ie an "American" tourist), so don't gawk around, pull out your maps or leave your luggage unattended. We stayed nearby, and my wife and I actually made a point of having our cappuccino and coronetta at the Express coffee stand located there. This is actually a great train station, and although I wouldn't recommend traveling there alone, that goes for any large city anywhere.

Rome, Italy>, Jul 20, 2008

My wife and I had an interesting experience traveling on the Artesia Night Train between Venice and Paris. We had only ever been on a night train once before this (from Paris to Vienna) and it was a great experience, so we were looking forward to doing it again. It wasn't exactly the same experience.

To begin with, the Artesia cars themselves are showing their age, especially when compared to the EuroNacht train we took from Munich a week later (very nice). But what confounded us the most was the actual configuration of the sleeper cabins which, to my knowledge, is unique to this line. When looking down the corridor you can see that every even doorway is at floor level and every other doorway requires a step up into the cabin. Why? Because the layout for each alternating cabin is different. The cabins "interlock" in a way and it allows more cabins in the same space as a conventional car. For example, if you are booked into cabin #1, the doorway is at floor level. Inside the cabin is the classic configuration of an upper and lower bunk, the lower bunk can double as a double seat while the upper bunk is folded away. But then we get to cabin #2, the one we were assigned to. These cabins require about a six-inch step up into them. Inside one realizes a couple of things 1) how claustrophobic they are and 2)they have a very strange and uncomfortable layout. Against one wall is a narrow, two seated sofa. Where are the berths? Look up...look waaayyyy up. They are both upper berths, one on either side of the cabin. And they are not just upper, they are at the very top of the cabin. Anyone who has ever slept on the top bunk of a trailer or motor home and banged their head on the ceiling will know what I mean. Both of us had to use the single (long) ladder that was provided.

Now I have to emphasize that I am not hard to please; I really don't think I was being too picky. But if your idea of a night train experience is getting all cozy and romantic, maybe save it for a different service.
