Good neighborhood restaurant Aug 20, 2011
The night we went here was the Birthday of Reykjavik and everyone in Northern Europe seemed to descend on the capital. The restaurants in the center were all booked. This place was slightly off the beaten path and was recommended by a lovely woman in Akureyri. We made a reservation and had a wonderful dinner. Many Icelandic dishes made with European flair were on the menu: horse, lamb, whale, reindeer, fish. The horse was very tasty, but not the best we had in Iceland. The reindeer pate was not gamey at all, but we chickened out on trying the whale. It was crowded but in an intimate sort of way. The service was good and reasonable quick. As with everywhere in Iceland, the prices were high, but we were very happy that some nice woman went out of her way to not only recommend this place but to print out directions and a menu for us.
