It sure is pretty Dec 26, 2009
A bridge connection between Denmark and Sweden had in many year been a wish, but first in the middle of the 90's was there a political agreement between the two countries on building the Øresundsbroen (The Oresund Bridge). The bridge was officially opened the 1st July 2000 and since then the bridge have been the best proof of the connecting the ties between Copenhagen and Malmö in what is called the Oresund's Region. It was actually funny that in the beginning there were almost no cars passing the bridge and the train connection was the preferred use of the bridge, but lately the road traffic has excided the expectation that was the base of the calculations of building the bridge.

If you want to cross the Øresund Bridge I think the best way is by car where you also have the best views of this magnificent construction. The motorway is also on top deck of the bridge where you have a great view of both Sweden and Danmark at the same time. The railway is situated in the basement of the bridge so to say; underneath the motorway. It is far more cheap to cross the bridge by train than by car, but you can of cause also fill the car up with a lot of people if you find some that wants to go the same direction as you.

The bridge is a quite complex construction, with a tunnel underneath the area called Drogden and up to the artificial island Peberholmen. From Peberholmen the railroad and the motorway joins on to the High Bridge that goes over Flinterenden, where most of the large ships in Øresund passes. Finally the bridge lands in Sweden at Lehrnacken where the huge payment site is situated. The border between Denmark and Sweden is at the High Bridge where it passes Flinterenden

This must be the most famous landmark in skandinavia, the oresund bridge. It was built between the cooperation of denmark and sweden, to avoid environmental and nature disaster across the oresund strait and its area. The bridge was opened in 2000. It is a combination of tunnel and bridge that extents its length until 7.8 kilometers making it the longest tunnel bridge in europe.

the cost from copenhagen to malmö is about 15 euros roundtrip, so its affordable and from malmö, you can have a wonderful view of the bridge, because in copenhagen, you will not for it starts as a tunnel there and a nature reserve area.

cars pass at the highway which is called e20 and trains pass below it. It takes about 10 minutes to cross the whole bridge from end to end and it has the most spectacular view ive ever seen in my whole life.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Vasco da Gama bridge in Lisbon Portugal is 17.2 km. The bridge was opened to traffic on March 29, 1998, 18 months after construction first began.
I understand that national pride is blinding (I'm sure the Danes told you it was the longest, they told ME it was the longest also), but at least Denmark is still the biggest European country (they still own Greenland, the bigest island in the world)
