travel review from Bangkok, Thailand

Binky and I were on our way back to our hotel when we chanced upon Coco Walk. Since we were both wanting to have a little alcohol in our system that night, we went to check it out. Granted, the place doesn't look nowhere near elegant, but the big menu board that said "BUFFET 89Baht (US$3)" was enough to merit our approval. Besides, if there's a lot of people eating then it must be good. We sat down, ordered a couple of beers (60Baht each) and gave the buffet a try. The buffet table o...

travel blog from Ko Tao, Thailand

The weather was again pretty awful, in fact it was windier than yesterday. Ko Tao is famous for the diving opportunities it offers and although reasonably priced in a relative sense still well out of my budget. I had toyed with the idea of some rock climbing but I'm already way over budget and only a few days from home so I resisted temptation. This left me with little option but to put my boots back on and explore further. This time i chose to head to Mango beach the furthest po...

We paid around P850 ($15) for a twin fan room with own shower and hot water good for one and a half days. The resort usually rents out the rooms for the weekender visitors. We arrived Saturday morning at the pier via the Super Ferry from Manila around 6am and were scheduled to depart at 11pm the following Sunday, which usually means check in Saturday morning then check out Sunday early evening, hence the one and a half day stay at Sea Dive hehe ;p. They have clean and cozy rooms, pers...

travel review from Hollywood, Florida

Traveled to the Hard Rock in Hollywood FL on business with colleague. Wanted to try something different from the norm so we dined at Tatu. The food was great and quite memorable. Appetizers and main course was definitely on par or if not better than what I have found in many Chinese restaurants in the NYC area (I'm not referring to take out) Service was prompt and attentive with food provided on time with little to no wait. Dessert was also a hit (Banana and Dulce De Leche). By the way,...

The Sukiennice or Cloth Hall is probably the most famous building of Krakow, standing in the middle of the old square. The hall was build in the 15th century and is on the UNESCO list of world inheritance. You simply cannot miss it when in Krakow. The building itself is long and tall, and mainly of Renaissance architecture due to restorations in the 16th century. Similar cloth halls are to be found in Europe, yet this is one of the most outstanding examples. Sukiennice was what you coul...

We stayed in the Cybulskiego Guest Rooms for 6 nights, so we really hoped the place would be good. Luckily it was. The location is, in my opinion, perfect. It is at the Western side of Krakow's old town, outside the Planty park boundaries but yet on a 10 minutes stroll from the Rynek Glowny. The neighborhood is save and quite. Not all of the staff speak English, but most of them do. In the mornings, when everyone goes to have breakfast (included in price) the English speaking staff is a...

Obarzwanki are round pretzel-like cookies sold in stalls all over Krakow. You will find vendors near the station, the old market square, the main streets, shopping area's, parks, wherever. The Obarzwanki has it's origin particularly in Krakow so if you want to try something typically from the region, why not this cookie? It is really cheap (mostly costs less than a zloty) and tastes fine. It is a bit dry and often salt (yummy) though, so better keep some drinks in hand when you eat it. Ap...

The Rynek Glowny is the old town's square of Krakow, in the heart of the city. It is simply impossible to miss out on. As I wrote in my blog I find the square a bit too crowded and messy. Not because it is dirty but because all the buildings are standing criss cross around the place. Yet the square is one of the biggest in Europe and full of historical buildings of tremendous architectural value. Most of Krakow got out of world war II unharmed and so the majority of the buildings here are, un...

The Saint Adalbert's church stands at the Rynek Glowny, the main square in Krakow, and is pretty tiny. The building itself is a white cubicle like form with a round roof, at one corner of the square. It is possible to visit it, and underneath is a small museum where you can watch some of the cellars under the Rynek Glowny. The square used to be a lot lower in the old days, and here you can see some prove of that. Apart from this, the Adalbert's church isn't much spectacular. From the o...

There is lots of free space to bike near the airport  that's why passing this facility many times. Warsaw airport consists of two passangers terminals - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. And there is also always very crowded "Etiuda" terminal. Etiuda is my favourite one, because it's for so-called "low cost carries" hehehe. There are also one more place that I loke to visit sometimes, it's a observation deck. Normal ticket costs 4 PLN, but am a local person so I know where to bike to...

To me, the Bazylika Mariacka or Basilica of Mary was the highlight of Krakow's old town. This church is placed at one corner of the main square Rynek Glowny, facing the Sukiennice cloth hall. The outside isn't that much spectacular, constructed of brick stone and with two towers that aren't of the same hight nor form. There is though a legend attached to the towers. If I'm correct, it goes something like this: It is said that two brothers worked on the basilica, each designing a tower. ...

Ohrid is absolutely beautiful!!! Locals are extremely friendly and hospitable. It is very affordable. The lake is huge, it very much looked like sea :) It is very clear and great to swim in, though cold. Beaches could use some fixing up, the water is a little inaccessible due to rocks. All in all, I would definitely go back, this time by car though :) Check out some pics...
