actually there are so many interesting places to be visited in Java. it's depend on your interest and the time available with you.

1. The closest part of Java that bordering Jakarta is the West Java Province, Bandung as the capital city of the province is definitely worth visiting. You can go to Lembang, seeing the tea plantation with some dutch colonial influence, such as the very old Boscha Telescope, the weather is around 15 to 20 degree celcius, it's very fresh.

• The other city in West Java that is worth visit is Bogor or the Dutch used to name it Buitenzorg, this city is the closest city to Jakarta, you can reach this place within an hour with nice executive train. in Bogor you can see the famous Botanical Garden, it's a big and beautiful place, i suggest you to just go there not in public holiday, it would be too crowd. From the Botanical Garden you can also see the presidential palace in Bogor that used to be the venue of the APEC confrence which President Clinton was also there, recently President Bush also visited the palace. • There is also another botanical garden located bit on the countryside of Bogor named the Cibodas, this place is also cool and located at the foothill.

2. Central Java and Yogyakarta offers so many attractions and interesting places to be visited. Yogyakarta is politically separated to Central Java, though in Culture and so many things these two neighboring province are very much similar. I suggest you to come to Yogyakarta first, you can take an executive train from Jakarta that will cost around US$ 25 – US$ 30 and will take you there for 7-8 hours. Or you can take the daily flight (an hour flight) from the Soekarno - Hatta airport that will cost you US$ 25 –US$ 40. Yogyakarta is so unique and vibes, you can as simply as walking down the Malioboro street to feel the city’s pulses. Visit the Sultanate Palace, The Taman Sari Water Castle, and The Bird Market which located in the nearby area. And there is a very beautiful yet very informative Javanology Museum at the Kaliurang area, named “The Ullen Sentalu”, it’s a must visit place. The other interesting places to visit in Yogyakarta are the famous BOROBUDUR stupa/temple, Prambanan Temple, and the ancient Kingdom of Ratu Boko. • Drive 1.5 hours from Yogyakarta and you’ll reach the cultural center of Central Java, Surakarta or Solo, here you can visit the Sultanate palace of Surakarta, Pasar Triwindu the Antique market and Candi Sukuh (Sukuh Temple) this temple is known as the erotic temple for it’s relief and sculptures. • another interesting place in central java if you have enough time is the Dieng plateau and it’s Dieng Temple the view is just AWSOME, public bus or rental minivan will take you there from Yogyakarta for 3 – 4 hours.

3. East Java’s capital of Surabaya is the entry gate to East Java if you travel with Train or Airplane. There’s not much you can see in Surabaya, so I suggest you to take a bus or minivan (in Indonesian we call it ‘TRAVEL’) from Yogyakarta that will cost you US$ 10 - US$ 15 heading straight to a city named Malang, from this awesome colonial city you can go to Mount Bromo, this mountain offers you a magnificent view and landscape. Around the Malang city it’s self you can visit the Singosari Temple or the Candi Jago temple.

Hopes it's useful to you, have some fun guys….
