A Zoo and an amusementpark in one Nov 04, 2009
In Hong Kong, Ocean Park has managed to draw more visitors than the nearby Disneyland. It has been around for a number of years and is build against a steep hill. The lower part of the park contains most animals, including the four panda bears and two red panda bears, the higher part mainly has rides. Be aware, if you are afraid of heights, DO NOT get on the cable car that links the lower and higher parts of the park together, you WILL get a heart attack. Take the Ocean Express instead, which is like a ride on a subway. If you enjoy views and altitude, go right ahead with the cable car and enjoy the ride.
The main attractions are The Giant Panda Habitat (here you can see the two panda’s An An and Jia Jia) and the Giant Panda Adventure (this building contains the habitats of panda’s LE Le and Ying Ying and two red panda bears). Next to this, you don’t want to miss the Atoll Reef (beautiful aquarium). Also nice are the Avery and the Sea Jelly Spectacular. There are several roller coasters, they are enjoyable but not very spectacular. Make sure you come early and start with the Giant Panda Habitat and the Giant Panda Adventure to avoid the crowds. Also, if you want to use the cable car, do so in the morning. Nearly everybody wants to go from the higher part to the lower part of the park by cable car, which means there are huge lines in the afternoon. Part of the Hong Kong 2009 travel blog |

OCEAN PARK, HONG KONG May 31, 2008
When I went to Hong Kong back in 2005 I had the opportunity to go to this cool amuzement park located in Hong Kong. There are numerous ways you may get to the park; city bus, car, taxi, and the entrance is directly located in front and back of the mountain. The Park is about 15-20 minutes from the main city. I went by bus with a group and the price was pretty average. Even though I went on a rainy day, it wasn't many people there which I recommend the best time to go to any amuzement park. There is so much to do and plenty of restaurants, fast food joints along the way, and stands for beverages as well. We rode the roller coaster from the top and it was the best part of the day for me...oooh wee, dont think about it - just do it! We also ate at the Middle Kingdom Restaurant down by the Tai Shue entrance, pretty darn good...cant go wrong with fried anything and rice is always the best choice too. The Park has many animals too...one of the ones that comes to mind is the Panda Bears==>You will have a chance to see them really up close. Wow they were the cutest and mainly all they do is eat roughly 14 hours a day and sleep,,awe! There was plenty of Marine life to see as well, the park name says it all...hope you get the chance to check it out, you'll love it...oh this is great for all ages and bring a good pair of sneakers too!

Actually it seems like we really have no choice since our schedule is too tight... By the time we arrived at the HK airport we looked at our map to search for the location where we'd meet our tour guide. Luckily we didn't get lost, we found our tour…ocean park instead of disney. If we pick disney we cannot make it to victoria's peak because it is quite far and the disney tour wouldn't be complete without the fireworks show. So we discussed about it and decided to go to ocean… Pick the itinerary of your choice. |

I’ve been to Asia a few times, and I’ve seen my shares of temples. Therefore, if there’s a choice to be made between visiting a couple of more temples or an Asian amusement park where you can see several panda bears, the park wins.
In Hong K…park wins.
