i think going out at nights is safe in athens but i can't say that one has too much fun there because it's not so much touristic as greek islands.
there is a street where all bars are located so one can go there at nights but also there are a few clubs which requires cover but dress code.

After we went back to our hostel and chilled on the rooftop bar until it closed at 12 and then went to another bar for a bit, but we didn't stay too long as we had to wake up at 5 to get ready and catch our ferry to Ios.

When we booked in Munich we were so excited as it sounded sooo good so we didn't mind spending the extra money but it totally wasn't worth it and we were pretty disapointed) 1/2 People 1/2 Nightlife 4/2 Sites 1/2 Weather Total=7.5/10 … It's sooo hot in Athens!!! |

We then went night photography hunting, and taking in the buzzing nightlife of Athens. I ended up being extra happy that we shared with those ladies as both of those activities were their ideas, and the city by night was definitely something I'm glad I experienced.
The next day was spent full on sightseeing; we climbed… Ancient Greece |

Similar to New York, it offers all the dining, nightlife and cultural experiences you need, but Athens is right on the water, so it's easy to have a leisurely meal at a seaside cafe, which is exactly what I did when I first arrived.
