Weekend Drive Sep 13, 2013
Jasper and Banff is one of the BEST national park that i have ever been to. If you are starting on the British Columbia side; don't forget to stop by Mt. Robson on the way in. If you want to do the 23 km hike to the base of the glacier, buy your backpacking pass at the information center before you enter the trail. If you just want to do a good day hike to Kinney Lake; just drive down the gravel road and find parking at the end of the road. Kinney Lake is about 7 km in and is simply breath taking.

Keep in mind that Jasper has one of the darkest skies in the world. If you're a stargazer, bring you telescope and cameras. There is literelly no ambient light unless you're close to the village. The night sky was so clear that you can see the milky way and have some of the most amazing pictures if you are into astrophotography.

While in Jasper, there are a few good places to hike. Near the village, take the tram up to the peak to get a good overview of the mountain and village. There are a few hikes around the area to catch some good sunset or even some sunrise. You will get a map that highlight some of the good places to see and hike. In the middle of the village, there is a information center that have rangers who will recommend good hikes or things to do. I would highly advise checking with them before hiking because they will tell you where the bear sightings have been and which areas to avoid. Bears feeding for the winter during the fall, so be extra careful.

You can travel a few ways from Jasper village. You can head east out of the park and towards Hinton. It's a small town just about an hours drive outside the park and have a few shops like a small walmart, safeway, and other chain food. They also have a lot of hotels and motels if you're there during peak tourist season.

If you head south of Jasper, you'll be setting off on one of the most beautiful drives i have ever taken in my life! No exaggerations! I've been to some amazingly beautiful places but Jasper to Banff takes it to another level. On you way, there are a few places to stop at and do the tourist things. It's not until midway to Banff where you will see the amazing vivid glacier lakes. These lakes are simply breath taking. Check out some of the pictures.

Once you get into Banff..aka Lake Louise. It's definitely something to see, but not as impressive as Moraine Lake. It's not a congested and tourist out like Lake Louise. If you don't stop and take in the beautiful lakes on the drive to Banff, Moraine lake is a must.

To be honest i didn't stop in Banff village, but there are tons of amazing hikes around the area.

Mountain Bike BC Jul 16, 2011
We mountain Biked in Jasper and had a great time. The town has really set up a great trail network in and around the national park, and anyone with a bike, a sense of adventure, and energy can find numerous killer trails that interlace he park. Some trails are mapped, and others not, so keep your eyes open, and have navigation skills to keep from getting lost, and you might find yourself on some secret, local favorites
