dream destination
I have never been here before, but I know I love it. I love it for its strength, its endurance, and its beauty. One day the fighting and brutality will end and when it does, it will be unlike anything anyone has ever dreamed of. 105 others want to go here
Countries I've Traveled To
Languages Spoken
English, Spanish, learning Danish to please my husband, secretly taking an online French course (I'm sort of good!).
Interests
Books you might find in my backpack
Music you might find me listening to while waiting for my plane
Most Memorable Travel Experience
My first trip to Rome with the person who is now my husband. It was our first vacation together and we spent 4 days exploring, eating, drinking wine, laughing and talking. It's still one of my best trips ever.
Profile
I have been traveling almost my whole life, but my first real travel experience was to London from California when I was 16 years old. Until Fall, 2005, I had been back to Europe a couple times to Spain and Greece, but I mostly stayed in the U.S. going on cross-country trips to Florida or hopping on a plane to Hawaii. Then in August 2005, I packed up my most important belongings and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to study International Human Rights Law for 4 months. I basically never left. Okay, well I did return to San Francisco to finish up law school and then I carried out my promise to myself to live in my father's home country, Mexico, to learn Spanish and meet my relatives. But in December of 2006, I moved back to Copenhagen to be with a Dane whom I had met during my study abroad experience. Having endured a year and a half living 6000 miles apart, we have been to numerous places around the globe. Since I've been back in Copenhagen, we've had a few more excursions around Europe. That's what I love about living here. You can get on a plane or train and be in a completely different country. So this travel blog is filled with only trips we've taken this year. It doesn't include our adventures in San Francisco, our escapades in Guanajuato, or my solo trips around Europe from my 2005 experience. Those will have to remain my personal memory.
Now that I'm officially in an international relationship and living in a country that I was not born in, I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet so many people from different cultures. I have to say my favorite people are Canadians, but I love meeting people from Latin America to practice Spanish. Europeans are amazing in their diversity, openness, and sophistication. And there is nothing like meeting an American in a foreign country who understands that no matter how cool the rest of the world is, there is nothing like eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while watching Seinfeld.

California 2007
Aug 23, 2007 - Sep 04, 2007
After 5 months of being in Europe, I was able to return to my home, California for 3 great weeks. We stayed in So Cal for 12 days exploring Santa Barbara, San Diego, and LA. We then caught Southwest up to San Francisco where we spent the remainder of our trip visiting museums, mountain biking, going to the opera, taking in some football and baseball and eating the best food ever. I cried when I got on the plane to go back to Denmark. One day I'll return and when I do, I'm not going to leave.

Exploring Norway in 5 days 2007
Jun 21, 2007 - Jun 26, 2007
Oslo, Norway -› Flam, Norway -› ...
Since I have now lived in Copenhagen on and off for 2 years without ever visiting Norway, I decided that the best way to spend a couple of days would be by visiting my good friend in Oslo and then taking a train trip to Bergen, via Flam. In the spirit of being more adventurous on my travels, I took a 12 hour hike around Arland that left me with exquisite pictures and sore legs.

Italy May 2007
May 07, 2007 - May 15, 2007
My husband and I took this trip to return to our favorite city in the world and to get married. First we went to Rome, which was the first place we ever traveled to together, then we made our way down the coast to Positano, which is a magical little jewel along the Italian Riviera. Anyone considering a small European wedding should give serious consideration to Positano as the setting is spectacular and romantic and the people bend over backwards to welcome you. It was the trip of a lifetime.
