lti Costa Caribe Beach Hotel Isla de Margarita Reviews
Good value for money Jul 11, 2008
Once arrived bellboys took lugage to oour room and cheak in was quick. Got given cards for towels so we didnt need to use our own at the beach. At the check in desk next to it is a currency exchange desk where you can change most widely accepted currencies.
Once we got our room key and paid for a safety deposit box in our room we went to look at it. Many people complained at the size of the room, however we had a ground floor room and a terrace, it had huge doors which opened out to have two seats and a table, also a sun lounger.
Maids came everyday to change towels and clean the room. Bedding was changed everyother day.
The pool was the main assest of the hotel, i have never seen such a big one. There was also a pool bar which was open from 10 am till 11pm and there was a gap at the side of the pool which you could walk down and go to the beach. There were sunbeds already on the beach and security stopped local people coming onto the beach. The sea is a bit rough and advised not to swim in it as no lifeguard is there and the currents are strong.
There was good choice of bars they all had different times they would stay open until and served many drinks - try the polar beer a great light refreshing beer!
Food, this i think was ok, the quality of it was very good some of the best i have had, however it wMasn't very hot and it would have been better to change options a bit more, there was a lot of choice dont get me wrong however it was rotated weekly except breakfast which was rotated everyother day and many items were the same. Other than this it was good. All the water from bars and ice cubes are purified but in your hotel room it is not and it is advised not to drink this water, there is a shop on site where you can buy bottled water, however this can be expensive.
There are two restaruants that you need to book for, this is the Mexican and the Italian. The Mexican is very good! The Italian also is good but men need to wear long trousers to this, if you have a nut allergy dont eat the brochetta that they bring you before you order as it has some nut in the oil i think, my boyfriend was allergic to it. They say you can only go to these once during your stay but we went to them both twice and it was fine.
The entertainment is not the best, however i get the impression the hotel hasnt been arround too long and so standards will get higher the longer its been open and more tourists go there.
Any other information you wish to have please get in touch, i would be happy to answer any more questions. Go with an open mind, if you have visited other resorts in this area you may think this isnt as good, remember Margarita is not the top destination in the Caribbean and it is a third world country with that in mind you will think the hotel standard is very high.
