Travel Plans
Senegaldream destination
I've met 3 people from Senegal, all at different times of my life, and they all tell me how beautiful it is, how amazing the beaches are. I'm really intrigued and curious to see it.
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovinadream destination
Only got to see a small strip of Bosnia when I passed thru a checkpoint on my way from Dubrovnik to Split. Really want to go back and see Mostar.
Countries I've Traveled To
Languages Spoken
English and, um, not very well. My grammar is much better in my writing than my speaking. :-) I also speak a little bit of Spanish.
Books you might find in my backpack
My own book! I wrote a novel that takes place overseas, and I'm currently seeking representation:

I also totally love/admire/cherish my critique partner's book SIMON'S PARADOX. L.C. Frost is amazing.
Music you might find me listening to while waiting for my plane
I have a pretty eclectic taste: U2, The Rolling Stones, Ke$ha, Bon Jovi, Lady GaGa, Moby, Sara Bareilles, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, The Beatles...and I named one of the characters in my novel after the awesomely talented Croatian pianist Maksim Mrvica.
Most Memorable Travel Experience
My most memorable travel experience is a wild-n-crazy story about my trip to Atlanta, Georgia:

Profile
Yes, I'm from Texas. Yes, I say "y'all." No, I don't own a horse, nor do I ride a horse to work, around a ranch, or anywhere for that matter. In fact, I've never ridden a horse at all and am, honestly, kind of frightened of horses. Or at least riding one. I do think they're awfully cute and beautiful...from a safe distance. :-}
Other "Texan" misconceptions, busted: I don't have an accent, I'm not conservative (not really, maybe a bit fiscally conservative), I did NOT vote for George Bush when he ran for president (and George Bush is NOT from Texas, by the way...he is from Kennebunkport, Maine), I do not go to church (though, I do consider myself a spiritual person), I don't wear cowboy boots (but I hear they're pretty comfy, so I might just get me a pair).
"Texan" misconceptions, affirmed: I have the tendency to say funky stuff that may or may not make sense to people outside of Texas...such as, "I might just get me a pair." (instead of, "I might buy a pair.")
Also, I used the word "reckon": "I reckon I'll do that." Another one is "fixin' to." In other words, "I'm fixin' to go to the store." Which translates to: "I'm ABOUT TO or I'm GETTING READY TO go to the store."
"Y'all" is really the big one. I often speak to people who have no idea I'm from Texas until I say "y'all." And, by the way, my accent slips thru when I do say it...just a little. ;-}
