Most Memorable Travel Experience
Safari Helicopters on Kauai, Hawaii with all the thousands of waterfalls surrounding the helicopter on all sides of the caldera and Napali Coast. Also, Safari Helicopters overhead the active volcano vents on the Big Island of Hawaii. Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft at 14,000 feet on Oahu's North Shore, accellerating to 120 m.p.h. for 60 seconds of freefall, and taking in the quiet beauty of Hawaii after the parachute opened with Skydive Hawaii.
Profile
My goal is to visit all 7 continents and all 50 States in America. Climbed Mount Fuji, Japan in AUG05 and went freefall skydiving on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii in MAR06. KING OF TB GROUPS!

I have lived in America, Germany, Korea, Hawaii (yes, that's also in America) and Okinawa (Japan). I have visited 22 countries, 300 cities, 39 of 50 states and 4 continents as of May 2008.

I really enjoy travelling with my wife Jenny, especially since we do not have any children to tie us down. I love experiencing new cultures, tasting unusual foods, and exploring new places. I am a geography major and specialized in cartography (map drawing) so I like to match maps and overhead/handheld imagery with the people and cultures from around the world.

I am a Christian amateur photographer/videographer, skydiver (2 jumps=1 tandem freefall, 1 static line), pilot (22 hours including a 1.5 hour F-16 ride), marathon runner (3.5-4 hours), mountain climber (under 14K feet), bicyclist (no more than 100 miles/day), drum corps soprano bugle/trumpet player, and part-time chef (stuffed cornish game hen with Swiss vegtable medley and a pumpkin pie for desert--these are my specialties).

I have never smoked anything in my life and I intend to keep it that way! We both love wine and I also like beer. We are fans of Jack Daniel's Whiskey as a marinade and have toured the distillery in Lynchburg, TN ;-)

I hope to take a hot air balloon trip over the Alps, go whitewater rafting, and break the sound barrier--maybe someday go into space/to the moon if tourism ever picks up out there!

FAVORITE TRAVEL QUOTES:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
~ Mark Twain

"In America, there are two classes of travel: First class, and with children."
~ Robert Benchley

Hi, Jeff, Thanks for the review congrats and smiles! I saw the original Newseum in Rossyln, too. But, the new Newseum is much better! Definitely recommended.

Have you settled in at Stuttgart?

Good-luck finding a house ... I did for my family and this Sept. 25th we leave from Ontario and head to Alberta ... a far drive and the company is paying cheaply ... so Dan has to drive a U-Haul and pull the car while I take a greyhound with 1 child ... U-Haul only sits 3 ... I look back to the forces and wish we had the same service that Dad did ... they paid for the whole transfer and found us a place ... thankfully I just happened to find one and yesterday it was confirmed! Goodluck in your search and remember your vote in TA for the next moderator as 3 guys want it!

DC and Baltimore on Business and Pleasure
Jun 17, 2008 - Jun 20, 2008
We traveled to DC on business and were able to see about 20 of our DC friends before we move to Germany. The friends we stayed with in Baltimore overnight took us to the Baltimore National Aquarium at the Inner Harbor tourist area before we drove back to Chesapeake via the DELMARVA peninsula over both the Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel Complex (toll bridges).

Fort Story, VA
May 25, 2008
Since we had to stick close to home for Memorial Day weekend and the weather was perfect, we decided to watch the sunset on Chesapeake Bay with a wine picnic on the beach, which is one of the few places on the East Coast you can watch the sun set in the water. Also at Fort Story are the Cape Henry Lighthouses. The new Cape Henry Lighthouse is still functional. The Old Cape Henry Lighthouse is the first structure paid for and commissioned by the new United States Government in 1792.

Chesapeake Arboretum, Chesapeake, VA
May 23, 2008
Well, we got about 10 miles into the 50 mile trip to Colonial Williamsburg for the day and Jeff noticed Jenny's radiator was leaking. We turned around, dropped off the car for repairs, and went to the local Chesapeake Arboretum instead. It is very close to our home and quite nice. The farm house was built in 1730, which is about the same time Williamsburg was the State Capitol of Virginia. The flowers, trees and brirds were all beautiful. Not a bad recovery from our daytrip gone bad.
