ANYONE WANT TO GO? I'M SERIOUS WHENEVER YOU WANT, WE'LL GO! 15 others want to go here
Countries I've Traveled To
Languages Spoken
ENGLISH, SPANISH, Thai, TUT (when someone is bothering me terribly asking me to buy something or get into their cab and I don't feel like arguing, I speak tut quickly and look befuddled, then they leave me alone) LOL! Pom Pasa Thai Nitnoy Kap.
Interests
FOOD, fruit, Spanish, Spanish speaking countries, any venture I have tried I have succeeded (I believe all can succeed given one person who believes in them). I guess you could say completely dogged when I latch on to something. Played in hospitals (I enjoyed that but it became just a living-I want to enjoy life) so now I'm self employed, jeweler, (self taught), antiquarian, antiquities collector, archeology, (amateur). I enjoy backpacking, scuba diving, mountain climbing, caving, repelling, barefoot water skiing, sailing, motor boating, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, motorcycles, scooters, 4 wheel driving, off road driving, surfing, snow skiing, children, love, life, happiness, snorkeling, fishing, romance, back rubs, eating different foods, (when in Rome...), Meeting new people, cultural immersion. nice people (oh, I'm straight, BTW!)-sometimes misunderstood 'cause I'm a guy who can express empathy, kindness and communicate effectively and I'm a strong but caring soul.
My dislikes: WAR, arrogant tourists (people expecting caviar not noticing the starving people watching), arrogant wealth, Arrogant American government, American politics, corrupt governments anywhere.
I look forward to moving away from America where materialism isn't so prevalent (this seems to be a Paris Hilton country--come on)!, the reporters report the trash and Americans eat it up (or it wouldn't sell)! America has become quite an embarrassment over the past 20 years. I'm marrying Isaan! Books you might find in my backpack
Travel maps, fruit and local cuisine guides, Books? Who has time to read when there are things to eat and monkeys to chase and my imagination saying, "If I lived here, I would..."? I'll have a Camera, Scuba mask, snorkel, fins, Spanish translator calculator (so I can perfect my language skills), maybe a stethoscope (kidding), a wad of cash to hide somewhere, machete, tropical fruit, (did I say fruit?), local candy, knife (for the fruit), nothing exciting really! Music you might find me listening to while waiting for my plane
Latin station (to learn Spanish better), classical EVERYTHING, New Wave, 80's rock, local music, (not picky-except rap and too much country, anything is fine). Good music is far better than a certain genre of music.
ELO, Vietnam antiwar music (I love), Led Zepplin, Styx, Queen, Ella Fitzgerald, Garbage, Louis Armstroing, Miles Davis, Enigma, Kix, Motley Crue, Boston, Rolling Stones, Whitesnake, Jimmy Hendrix, The Mamas and the Papas, Sam the Sham and the Pharoes, Stevie Nicks, Utah Saints, Tangerine Dream, Alanis Moresette, Amy Grant, Fiona Apple, BB King, 2 live crew, Emmenim, Michael Jackson, Counting Crows, U2, Stevie Wonder, Traci Chapman, Lorena Mckennitt, Peter Gabriel, Portishead, The Smyths, Enya, Santana, Harry Conic Junior, Pink floyd, Nora Jones, Juliana Hatfield, C&C Music Factory, Ray Charles, Earth Wind and Fire, Dave Matthews, Judas Priest, AC DC, Metallica, Eagles, DC Talk, Keith Green, Stryper, Mahalia Jackson, Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Handel, Strauss, Widor, Lisa Lisa, Bananarama and all that era pop stuff (brings back memories). Most Memorable Travel Experience
Tikal, Guatemala and the Mayan pyramids, monkies, eating mini bananas, coconuts, "ginips" (have never seen them since but I'd love some), mangoes, papayas, etc. in Guatemala, Guatemala City architecture, Italy towns and any jungles in Central America, missing my plane in Thailand, being scammed and drugged in Bangkok, Travel naivety (all those women are really hookers?) Horse Packing across the Rocky mountains for 2 weeks...twice! Passo Stevlio snowskiing in the summer, Roatan, Honduras, running from the police in the US...Every trip is the most memorable... never forget one and I plan to add more exotic, strange destinations (as long as I can sneak it in)!
I enjoy discovering historical truths. One interesting book, "Lies your history teacher told you" would be a good start :o) ..King Tutankhamen in Egypt had cocaine in his system detected by Chromo-Gas Spectrometry from his tissues. The only place in the world cocaine grew was in the Bolivian mountains proving ample trade between S. America and Egypt before Columbus's grandparents were even born! That sort of stuff amazes me! Other baffling (and fun) mysteries--Batteries and Iron dated hundreds of years they were supposed to exist, Islamic and Byzantine hand grenades, a gear driven clock/planetary calendar around 1BC found (long before gears, a round earth or knowledge of planets was re-realized). There's one historical text I believe makes more sense than what we give credit "There is nothing new under the sun"! I take that for face value. I just wish I could be around "back then" to see how they used the technology they had. Profile
I'M GONNA BITE! ............I love eating people and meeting new foods (what)? I was in SE Asia in Feb, back againn 3/31-4/30! I met someone nice and I'll bring her here (farangs don't cut it anymore). I'm memorized by the MidEast! I'd love to go to Tehran! I love unplanned excursions (tend to be the most fun) away from tourist homogenized culture, tasting life as the locals do. I grew up a mile from Wash DC. I LOVE, different cultures, people and eating different foods (food?). I'm fearless! I'd love to move to a little corner abroad-detached from war & chaos. I long for a soul mate inspiring creativity and love for the short time we have on this earth.
I love Central America, any place with unusual, old jewelry (jewelry is the expression of locals), antiques, culture and tasty food (food)? I'd love to travel to the Mid East, Iran, Jordan, Madagascar,Cuba, S. America... Anyplace with exotic foods (food?) strange things and exotic cultures (more different, the better) sound like a blast to me! I'd love to retire and travel staying for long periods abroad. I'd love to invest in a business to enjoy a better lifestyle than just retirement alone, then help the poor in the world (dreams)! I'm looking to make business connections in any country with old things and old looking things not normally found on the homogeneous United States (exporting)...everyone involved benefits from supplier to buyer, everyone's happy, everyone gets what they want! This world is so big yet so small. This website is awesome! I have now been inspired to travel alone without fear. I keep hearing why NOT to go somewhere and i felt stuck until I learned there are tens of thousands of people at any given time from this website alone already at their destinations enjoying their little corners of the earth. I HOPE TO SEE MANY OF YOU AMIDST OUR TRAVELS MAKING MEMORIES AND LAUGHING LIKE HYENAS!

I DID IT! My first solo trip out of the country and it was a BLAST! Now I know why people travel alone! No one to complain, do exactly what you want when you want, no one to spend your money on stupid stuff that will end up in the trash next year, anyway (I'm not a junk souvenir fan). Plenty of danger since I'm alone...great!
