Regarded as the cradle of Western Civilization and the birthplace of democracy, Greece has a rich and storied history dating back thousands of years.
Officially known as the Hellenic Republic, Greece is located in southern Europe at the Crossroads of three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa. With around 2,000 islands within its borders, Greece is a mountainous country which is very much in tune with the Aegean waters surrounding it. Naturally, shipping and trade is a big industry for the Greeks, as is tourism, since it is a major destination for travelers worldwide. The history on this country goes back to the B.C. times and is littered with major names and creations along the way. Did you know that literature, political science, drama, philosophy, modern scientific principles and the Olympics all got their starts in Greece? The country was became a template for the building of all future countries and societies. Today, Greece is a politically-stable, safe and beautiful country with much to explore. From the urban scene of Athens to the touristy islands like Mykonos and a plethora of temples and well preserved archeological sites the Hellenic Republic has something for everyone, with a great climate to boot. __________
