Germany is a diverse country unlike any other in the world. Germany's capital is Berlin. Although German is the main language, various dialects exist within the country, each one slightly different than the previous. German history begins under the unification after the Franco-Prussian war in 1871, divided after World War II and then reunified again in 1990. It is the founding member of the European Union and is considered a modern power.
Germany is at the seat of extensive ages of history. In addition, each individual town has its own history. It would take years of travel to place a dent in the rich history of Germany. It is divided into 16 states and down to 439 districts. Climate ranges in wide differences as does the terrain. The tallest peak is Zugspitze, located near Garmisch along the Alps. The most historically rich places in Germany are typically Munich, Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt. Castles are spread throughout the country which give the land it's mystic feeling and beautiful background, don't miss out on the Wartburg if you have the chance or Schloss Neuschwanstein which was inspiration for Disney's castle. Distinct foods indigenous to the area are easily available. The food carries influences from Turkey, Greece, Italy and other countries bringing a rich taste to the local foods. Castles are among the pieces of history that you don't want to miss on your trip. They are scattered all along Germany and other countries. __________

Yes, I was definitely excited about the meetup in Dusseldorf that I didn't mind waking up at 4:30 in the morning (I slept at 1:30, what the $&&*$*?!) to catch that 6am train that leaves the nearest train station here, which is located from another town and walking there takes me at least 20 minutes. I didn't get to buy a ticket for high speed trains in advance and so if I buy it now it will cost me 100euros one way (what the $#%^ again?!). I only bought a wee...

My first meet-up - and I almost missed it! It wasn't until April 15th when Melanie (--> mellemel8) asked me whether I would go to Duesseldorf on Saturday. Duesseldorf? That's just a stone's throw away. 40 km (25 miles) from the place where I live. Perfect! Suprisingly enough there were no other appointments for the meet-up day - I would go! Found out that abou four to five people would show up that I had "talked" to before. On Saturday I got into my car and drove to Duesseldorf. Got a parki...
