Wrong Geographic Locations

Some of my blog posts show up on the blog map at the wrong geographic locations.  The two most recent are:

Pinos Altos, NM which is just above Silver City NOT north of Interstate 40; but at GPS N 32.86647  W -108.222027

http://www.travbuddy.com/travel-blogs/1 … os-Altos-5

and San Miguel which is southeast of Mesilla/Las Cruces, NOT northwest of Santa Fe near Cuba.

http://www.travbuddy.com/travel-blogs/1 … -Miguel-12  GPS
N 32.153459   W -106.72685

I put a disclaimer on my blog entries but would rather have an accurate map.

Re: Wrong Geographic Locations

I could create a new location but then there would be two on the site.  It would also be a problem for Pinos Altos because another member has a blog for that location too and it would be confusing having blogs for Pinos Altos showing in two locations.  No one else has written about San Miguel.

Re: Wrong Geographic Locations

The source of error for Pinos Altos appears to be this:
https://www.topozone.com/new-mexico/san … s-altos-2/

I suspect there is a source of error for San Miguel somewhere too. TravBuddy gathered coordinates from these internet sites when it began in 2005/2006. The trouble is that there are multiple names for places and things can get mixed up. There is not much can be done about it and only the Admins can correct coordinates here.

Re: Wrong Geographic Locations

The coordinates for San Miguel (the town) appear to be for San Miguel (the county).  I could create an entry for San Miguel (the town) and move my content there.  If that would not mess up TB.

Re: Wrong Geographic Locations

There are plenty of such errors. I have given up worrying about them.
