Looking for help on Backpack with detachable day pack

hi i am looking at doing some traveling into the bush in the future and some of the places have a kit list saying my backpack needs to be a minimum of 75 liters preferably 80+, I also need a day pack preferably 25+ so would really like to have a 2 in 1 backpack with detachable day pack. the only one i have found so  far close to what i am looking for is the berghaus crusader 90 + 20 which i could attach more mmps large pockets to to give me a bigger day pack.

does anyone know of any military grade or good quality backpacks that meet the criteria of 80+ main pack and 25+ daypack preferably in neutral colours od olive green camo multicam

thank you for any help and hope you have a good day

Re: Looking for help on Backpack with detachable day pack

I'll be more broad with my answer but definitely look for the following reliable brands:

1) Kelty Coyote - https://kelty.com/coyote-80/
https://cdn3.bigcommerce.com/s-c9gaghhv/products/2741/images/2614/Coyote80_PondorosaPine_Front_KL16_PC_CB__77546.1457377097.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

2) Kelty Redcloud - https://kelty.com/redcloud-90/
https://cdn3.bigcommerce.com/s-c9gaghhv/products/2739/images/2681/RedCloud90_Twilight_Front_KL16_PC__53961.1457463128.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

Kelty's top cover serves as a daypack but not as a "real" separate carry on luggage piece

3) Osprey Waypoint 80 (this one has a proper separate daypack) - http://www.ospreypacks.com/us/en/produc … NT80M.html
http://www.ospreypacks.com/images/product/hero/waypoint80_side_highlandgreen.jpg

4) Osprey Xenith (no daypack though) - http://www.ospreypacks.com/us/en/produc … 8_607.html

Overall, backpacking packs won't have a "proper" dayback but usually the top compartment converts into a makeshift daypack. A travelpack (like the Osprey Farpoint and Waypoint) will have a proper and separate daypack that zips on to the front of the pack.

Also check the following brands: Deuter, Mountain Hardware, Gregory, Mountainsmith, etc.

You're welcome. Kelty has military style backpacks as well but I'm not that familiar with them. Also there are similar military style rucksacks sold on Amazon.

A note of caution though - having camouflage style backpacks may get you in a bit of trouble with certain areas where there are insurgents fighting the government. It will definitely arouse interest, whether good or bad.

Here's the champion in terms of size for Kelty - not camouflage, but desert color so also similar to what the military has. It has lash straps, and lots of pockets! The top converts to a fanny pack, though not a proper separate day pack.

As I understand it, this is what you want? https://www.amazon.com/USMC-MARPAT-Stra … B00A607D9U

Best pack I have had.  Hard to find now though.   I have three.  just in 'case'.  first one is 20 plus years old and now getting close to retirement.

Re: Looking for help on Backpack with detachable day pack

80+ liter backpack plus 25+ later day bag =  very heavy bag for trekking with. I'm sure your onto it though. It probably isn't big enough for you but Macpac is a NZ brand that does great packs. I have the Gemini 75 which has a detachable day pack included and is super comfy. I find I can fit my tent, sleeping bag, cooking stove, spare clothes and about 5-7 days worth of food in there no worries.

Good luck finding something suitable.
