Tour the filming location of Bill Murray's "Ground Hog Day"

Hello fellow Travelers!

I know that the movie Ground Hog Day is a favorite of many.  Well, I happen to live in the town it was filmed in, Woodstock Illinois.

If you plan on visiting the city of Chicago and would like to see the actual locations of it's filming I'd be more than happy to show you around.

The city of Woodstock is 37 miles northwest of Ohare International Airport and 67 miles northwest of Downtown Chicago.  The town offers some very nice choice of fine dining and also has some wonderful Bed and Breakfast establishments.  You can actually stay at the same Bed and Breakfast that Bill Murray's character "Phil Connors" stayed!

Happy Travels,

Chris

...and to think all this time I actually thought they filmed it in Punxsutawney, PA! I was actually going to visit there because it looked like a cool little town.

Woodstock is a cool little town!  I've never been to Punxsutawney, PA so I can't vouch for them.

PA in February?  I think not!  Besides, there are lots of other "real" Groundhog day spots in the US.

Besides, the OP was offering to do a movie site tour for those who are in the Chicago area and to show them around the city where she lives.

I grew up in Punxsutawney, PA....it too is a cute town but not as picturesque as where Ground Hog Day was filmed.   However, on Feb 2nd Punxsy is definitely a happening town.  (just once every year...lol)

As a Pennsylvanian, I find it absolutely hilarious that someone from Minnesota finds the thought of our winters disheartening! smile

I find any winter disheartening.  If I'm going on vacation in February, it's not going to be someplace cold, I'm going to go someplace to escape the winter.  I was pretty down when we went to Arizona in February, and we drove north of Phoenix and ended up staying overnight in a town that had snow on the ground.
