Re: Useful websites for travellers

hi

i found travelnhs.co.uk a very good site.  it gives a good hotel comparison and special rates for medical/hospital staff.  i use password 'nhs' and it works.

Re: Useful websites for travellers

Hi All,

I have just started planning my trip and I do like the information that you guys are supplying.

Were going off around Europe on April for 5 weeks, in a camper VW. We were looking at more localised information and found this:

www.iwannagothere.com

Its fun and up to date pretty much and has tonnes of local info

Pete

Re: Useful websites for travellers

Hello All,

I've just created a website to help people get from where they are to their dream destinations. Basically to answer all those questions of the form "I'm in ... and need to get to ... What's the best way?"

I'm slowing working on Western Europe and need help! So for all those who've marked that they like to share travel tips if you can help with your knowledge of the globe it would be greatly appreciated! I know a lot of people don't have a tonne money (i.e. people like me smile and can’t afford to just book plane tickets or tours everywhere.

To avoid being seeming spammy I'll leave the link out until someone mentions that they're interested in helping out.

Thanks!

Re: Useful websites for travellers

I dont know if this is something for this list as well, but I used this site for planning my next trip:

http://www.workaway.info
Its a site where you can "volunteer" all over the world for food and accommodation, very nice if you want to visit some place, get to actually know the people who live there (in my opinion you have to live with people to really get a feel for the culture) and well except for travel expences have a pretty cheap holiday!

Lots of information on countries all around the world. Topics about local food, festival, adventure sports, clubbing, cheap and expensive destinations, family stuff, what ever you wanna know!

If you sign up you get about two emails a week with interesting facts/stories/information about travelling.

I was reading through all of the replies, surprised that no one thought as highly of Matador Network as I do. I'm glad you added them to the list! I'm addicted to that website.

Re: Useful websites for travellers

A handy resource for checking how much money you're going to need is: Roam The World

I've found Skyscanner to be the best for flights.

Between the two, you can usually get to a pretty good guide of how much the trip is likely to cost you.

Re: Useful websites for travellers

I just wrote a small article for travelers who are interested in cheap flights within Europe.

Probably most people who have taken an interest into it already know it but it`s good to have it in the same place or to refer a friend to it or whatever.

hxxp://fr.ee/article/where-to-find-cheap-flights-within-europe

(I hope that this is not considered as a spam as the article is no way monetised or similar)
also replace the X`s with t`s to get a working link smile

Again if this is against rules then just let me know smile

Re: Useful websites for travellers

thorntree.lonelyplanet.com is very good for getting first hand opinions.

Maybe you can update the first post with all the websites and a brief description? That would be awesome!
