Ferhatović Jul 31, 2017
There are many specialised restaurants called ćevabdžinica in Sarajevo, where you can try authentic Bosnian grilled food. The most popular places are located in the heart of Sarajevo, Baščaršija. One of those ćevabdžinica is Ferhatović Petica near Vijećnica, city's old townhall. The restaurant was opened in 1984 during the Sarajevo Winter Olympic Games.

This is the second Ferhatović ćevabdžinica in the city, as there was open Ferhatović 9 in the Street Besarina Čikma 3, just above the tram line in Bašćaršija in the 50's of the last century. The owner was Asim Ferhatović, who was for years the best player of FC Sarajevo and one of the best in Yugoslavia. He wore the number 9 on his T-shirt, hence the name of the place. At that time every guest, a local or a tourist, would come to his ćevabdžinica that his business was flourishing. It was a thorn in the eye of jealous inspectors who raised him the tax he could not pay and caused his heart attack. The FK Sarajevo stadium, the former Olympic stadium of Kosevo, now has the name Asim Ferhatović- Hase stadium.

The choice of meals offered here covers all what you can get in the city and beyond. Ćevapčići- kebab, sudžukice- sausages, barbecues, burgers, veal steak or schnitzel, veal liver, brizle- sweetbreads or calf gallbladder, kidneys, chicken fillets, karabatak- chicken thigh. You can order any kind of juice there, coca cola, mineral water, but yogurt tastes best with that kind of food. They offer also seasonal salads and kaymak as side dishes.

The service is correct and fast as it can be, you must wait for food to be grilled :)

You can eat your meal in the restaurant or take it with you. It can be ordered online, too.

When food is tasteful, everybody learns very quickly to pronounce its name.:D

Among European's, your language is the hardest to pronounce, after Danish, so Bosnian is very easy compared with yours.

Authentic Bosnian restaurant Jan 04, 2014
If you'd like to try authentic Bosnian Ćevapi, this is the place. Of course, there are dozens of such Ćevabdžinicas in Sarajevo, but this one is supposed to be one of the best.

Ćevabdžinicas serve in the first place Ćevapi - minced meat rolls served in the Lepinja-bread, with onions by the side. You eat with a fork and your fingers.

The "Petica" restaurant is very nice, clean and cosy with good food. Quite busy as well, so don't be surprised if you have to wait for a seat. But Ćevapi are eaten fast. You order your meal which comes very quickly, eat up, and leave. So the next guest can have your seat. That's how it's done :)
