Most Memorable Travel Experience
Profile part 1

I am from West Monroe, Louisiana in the USA. I’ve been to a majority of the states in the USA due to my parents desire to show their children what the country has to offer. They even took us to Canada, during a blizzard ... whiteout conditions, even. Prior to December 2004, I would only visit one other foreign country which was Mexico. I lived in Corpus Christi for 2 years and it was only 90 minutes away.

I had a successful interior design career for 11 years. I worked in Dallas, Atlanta, and Boston but, also had projects that took my designs to Bermuda, Ireland, and other places as well. I had the privilege to work with many wonderful people with something as simple as color choices for their house to multi-million dollar homes. I and my work even made it into newspapers and on television twice.

In February of 2003 I finally possessed a passport. Over the 2004/5 Christmas / New Years holiday I went to England and France. I was able to see London, Bath, Windsor, and Stonehenge in England. In France, the primary focus was Paris, with a side trip to Mount St. Michel. My eyes were opened to the world outside the USA. Honestly, Paris changed my world. It is still one of my favorite places on Earth.

In 2006, I had the opportunity to travel for 3 weeks and explore more of Europe. This returned me to London for a second visit. This also took me to Amsterdam, Brussels, Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez, Aix en Provence, Cologne, Frankfurt, Cologne, Rome, and Florence. I had the chance to drive southern France and along the Rhine in Germany. I was hooked.
Profile part 2

After returning from this trip, I told Rob that I wanted to live in Europe. He listened. He was already working on projects in several countries in Europe and the opportunity presented itself only a few months after our return to the US. Within 1 year from our return we were living in Europe. On April 21st, 2007 we stepped off the plane in Amsterdam and into our new life in The Netherlands.

I left my career to help promote his but, also to be able to explore for however long this would last. We prioritized our budget in a manner of living beneath our means so that on one income we would be able to take care of daily life, save for the future, and allow for a monthly “allowance”. In February of 2009, Rob was offered a local contract in The Netherlands and we accepted.

I have gone through a period of extreme travel with 2008 garnering me 23 new countries to have visited. What a monumental and amazing year. I don’t know if I could ever repeat it but, I did it! I have enjoyed, immensely, every moment of my exploration and almost every person I have encountered. I have made some fantastic friends while visiting places that I never thought I would see.

Well, change is constant and I have now ended a chapter and begun a new one. Rob and I are divorced and I have begun a new life. I am uncertain where this will take me but I am thankful to my friends and travbuddies around the world for their know who you are. (five places that I've been that are not represented here...Scotland, Kosovo, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Palestine, Transnistria, and The Republic of Karelia)
