citytrip @ Vilnius Reviews

I just returned from a 4day trip to Vilnius. Altough people suggested me not to visit the city in winter it was quite OK. The temperature was bearable (arround 0°C), which should be at this time of the year rather warm.
Vilnius airport is very calm, and handling happens very fast. Probably there are busses to the centre (only 3km away), but in my opinion for a city trip to Vilnius you defenitely need to rent a car, as I did. I slept at the Unique Stay Hotel, which is a 10 minutes walk from the old city center. Facilities in the hotel were very nice an staff was also friendly. The city centre was pretty calm, and facilities to eat and drink were not in abundance but satisfying. Worth visiting surely are the Cathedral, Peter's and Paulus church (realy nice interior) and the Piles Street. Unfortunately i didn't visitthe genocide (KGB) museum, which should be very interesting. a 120 km drive away from Vilnius i visited the "grutas park" museum. A collection of broken up communist statues, which gave me "nostalgic" trip back to the dark days of communist power 20 years ago. Don't miss it! |
