Canada is the second largest country in the world by total area. Occupying most of northern North America, it extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. Canada shares land borders with the United States to the south and northwest.
The lands have been inhabited for millennia by aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored and later settled the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of New France in 1763 after the Seven Years War. In 1867, Canada was formed by Confederation of four British North American colonies. A gradual process of independence from the United Kingdom culminated in the Canada Act 1982, severing the last vestiges of dependence on the British parliament. Canada has a Parliamentary system of democracy. A federation comprising ten provinces and three territories, Canada is a bilingual and multicultural country, with both English and French as official languages at the federal level. A technologically advanced and industrialized nation, Canada maintains a diversified economy that is heavily reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. Canada is a beautiful and vastly diverse nation, in geography, ethnicity and culture. it is routinely ranked as one of the top places in the world to reside.

We headed back to Toronto on the train yesterday, pretty uneventful journey, we did get some views of Lake Ontario though once we were nearing Toronto. We arranged our train tickets to go to Jasper from Winnipeg next wednesday.
After signing in at HI Toronto we went to our room and were slightly disappointed - 3 bunkbeds all squashed into a tiny room - think we were both a little disheartened!! I'm sure its not going to be the worst of our travels!! Went out for a wander do...

Wow where to begin. If you are all old enough..or young enough (reruns), and have seen happy days with Ritchie Cunningham (Ron Howard), then you will understand the song. If not it's a cute little song and every since I knew I was going to this section of my secret trail well I thought of this song going through my brain.Again the day was nothing but sun and warm, this may be the last time the snow cat comes up this road as the snow is getting softer, and the hills are very steep....

I love living in this city, I am very lucky. There is so much beauty that surrounds this city, and Vancouver Island in general. I work right downtown (first job), close to the inner harbour. There is much crammed into a block, lots to see, and many things to do. There is the Greyhound bus station, goes anywhere pretty much (review to come later). Then there are restaurants about every half block, government street had lots to see, Empress hotel, and ...
