From Pangasinan, I had to go back to Manila to catch a flight for Batanes. This time I had to take a public bus. It is my first time to take the public bus after years of being away in the country. The travel time from Pangasinan to Metro Manila is 4 hours. The province of Pangasinan is north of Manila.

The bus company is called “Victory Liner”.

They have free WIFI on board, a plus factor.

Also, a television, dvd player and stereo sets are provided for entertainment.

I was helped by the driver to stash my back pack in the upper compartment.

The air-conditioning (AC) was working well. Outside temperature was humid so a strong AC was a real treat!

Last year, the fare was about PhP 298.00 (US$ 7.30) from Carmen, Pangasinan to Makati City.

The only one thing I wish they have is a bathroom!

There are other several bus companies (besides Victory Liner) to choose from depending to your travel destinations.

But I recommend Victory Liner. Check their website for more inquiries.

Most bus drivers and conductors (“ticket guys”) are kind and helpful.

Buses in the Philippines allow snack vendors to come inside the bus with all sorts of foods for sale! So if you get hungry while the bus is moving, there is no need to get off to buy snacks.

The busses have certain park stations where they stopped so that the drivers can do stretching or to walk around for a bit. And for you to use the restrooms, too.

Traveling by bus allows you to have glimpses of locals’ way of life through the sceneries you see along the byways. Also, taking the bus will give you opportunities to meet fellow travelers.

My children experienced taking the bus and they enjoyed it! They like the part where food vendors are allowed to sell food stuff inside. Boiled corn became their favorite "bus-food".

So when you're travelling in the Philippines, try to take the bus! Don’t be scared to take public bus, its safe and fun. You only need to use a little common sense for safety! Most passengers are also helpful and nice.
