Free! "Sights & Attractions" in Vatican City State, Italy
The Papal Basilica of Saint Peter (Basilica Papale di San Pietro) or more commonly known as St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City State remains the largest church in the world today by volume (5 million cubic meters). The history of the church can be traced back to reign of the Emperor Constantine in the 4th Century AD, when the original church was authorized by Constantine in 324 and cons…

Very cheap "Sights & Attractions" in Alberobello, Italy
Our visit to Trullo Sovrano although it is not a ripped off because the entrance fee is only eu1.50 per person, still I wish we shouldn't visited. Trullo Sovrano did not come up to my expectations. It is overly highlighted that this is only the trullo in town that has a habitable second floor, but the reality is, the upper part did look more an attic than subdivided real bedrooms. I would say, …

Free! "Sights & Attractions" in Sapporo, Japan
The Sapporo Snow Festival has been held every February since 1950. They are held at 3 different locations: Odori Park, the red light Susukino district and Tsudome. Because they are promoted in these public areas, the festivals are free to visit. Millions of travelers world wide visit every year as they are massive in scale. So massive, the festivals seemingly encompass the entire city. In any case…

Ridiculously Expensive "Restaurants, Cafes & Food" in Copenhagen, Denmark
Geranium has been one of the top restaurants in Copenhagen for a while – it might have been a little in the shadows of Noma for several years – but when Noma closed down their restaurant at its original location to move to a new spot. There was no longer any doubt about which restaurant was the undisputed best restaurant in Copenhagen – it is Geranium which is on top with the highest spot on…

Average priced "Hotels & Accommodations" in Christ Church, Barbados
After having spent some time on the west coast I can safely say you'll get a more authentic experience in St Lawrence Gap. Yellow Bird Hotel is perfectly located on the tip of St Lawrence Gap, over looking a beautiful beach view. The views, especially sunsets are second to none. The location is ideal for people watching, and a great base for getting to and from Bridgetown and Oistins. There…

Free! "Sights & Attractions" in London, England, UK
You may well wonder what is in or behind a name. In this case, let us consider ‘Clerkenwell’, which was once a very impoverished area at the northern edge of the city of London, but is now a very prosperous, trendy area well within the metropolis just beyond the northern edge of The City, the historic heart of London. The name in question relates to a well, which used to supply drinking wat…

Free! "Sights & Attractions" in Arpino, Italy
This small church is built on the ruins of an octagonal tower of the ancient city walls and was originally the chapel of the nearby castle. It has several paintings of note, of which the most significant is that of the Madonna of Loreto, its namesake. This was originally in another chapel but was brought here in 1712. Popular tradition has it that on the occasion of its arrival here all the bells …

Cheap "Sights & Attractions" in Overton, Nevada, USA
The Valley Of Fire State Park is one of the best natural preserves with colorful rock formation located about 48 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The name, Valley of Fire, is because of the red sandstone formations which are believed to be formed from shifting of sand dunes about 150 million years ago during the age of dinosaurs. The present landscape and the rock colors are the outcome…

Average priced "Restaurants, Cafes & Food" in Ramsgate, England, UK
I have effectively covered this rather excellent pub in the main body of the journal entry to which it is hopefully attached if I have got it right which is doubtful but this is a proper review. It is the Elephant and Castle in Ramsgate and is one of the Thorley portfolio. For those not familiar with the Thanet region of East Kent I should explain that Frank Thorley effectively owns it. An octo…

Expensive "Restaurants, Cafes & Food" in Dresden, Germany
The name says it all: This place wants to be home away from home for the English, or an exile for the anglophile people in Dresden. It is located in the Neustadt (New Town), *the* vibrant nightlife district in Dresden, which has a wide choice of restaurants with food from all over the world anyway. The furniture and decor (pics 1 and 2) are old-world, I'd say Victorian. It's a smorgasboard of t…
