Everyone always talk about how boring small towns are and, but I live here in Kilgore, Texas and I kinda like. I wasn't quite sure what it would be like living in such a small town, but it has really grown on me.  I work as the Campus Minister at the Christian Campus Center at Kilgore College. I also teach Religion course at the college. It is a nice college with about 5000 students from the local area. We have quite a few hotels in town as well as some pretty good little restu...

We made it back in one piece from our four day trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I have to say that this is quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever done outside of raising my kid J The trek was definitely not easy but it was so incredibly worth all the hard work and exhaustion and I absolutely believe that if you are going to Machu Picchu and you are fit and ready for hard work, you should head out on this trek. We had to book back in February since the trail is heavily regulated...

... well, final destination for the study abroad program.  This is not even close to the final destination for Greg and me.  School is in full tilt right now but the three of us  still are going to manage to find time to go to Prague, Czech Republic this weekend.  I know, I know, where's the blog?  Where's the pictures?  Patience my friends (and family), patience.  I still have to finish telling you about Paris, Strasbourg and Salzburg.  -Jon

Travelling around Europe for 2weeks (AMS-GER-FRANCE-BELGIUM). Exciting country for most of its medieval architecture, chateau and cultural sites which deserves protection for the benefit of all humanity. So, lets start to drive around and see some part of Europe.

Day 2 of my little birthday celebration.Check out was by 12noon and our flight wasn't leaving until after 2 pm, so alittle more window shopping was in order. We were very proud of ourselves, we only had 1 item each. But this is Paris so that was all we could afford...lol. Then it was back to the hotel to pick up our bags and get a taxi to the airport. The flight wasn't completely full so we were able to get seats together (we were flying space available).Back at Schiphol airport...back in ...

Well i really have enjoyed Lisbon.  it is such a beautiful place.  i have been so glad that this is where we decided to end our trip.  We have gone from East to West.  I would recoment Lisbon to anyone who wants to go somewhere to relax and enjoy the beautiful place.  i am sure there could have been so many more things we could have done here if we had the energy left, but walking all over the place has been a lot of fun.  we decided to go out for dinner tonight....

We spent 2 days in Split Croatia, which is right on the coast and a big jumping off spot for people who plan to tour the islands of Croatia.  I have done island hopping before and it wasnt something I found super exciting, so we decided before the trip that we would head inland to Bosnia and Heryegovina instead.  This turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. Split was nice, but small, we spent one day at a local beach enjoying the crystal blue waters, that we somehow manage...

Together Again

Kuala Lumpur and I--finally reunited--together again after 5 long years! (For a weekend, that is.) I went solo this time as I didn't have the luxury of waiting on and haggling dates/venues with my usual travel buddies, and most importantly since I changed the leaving and return dates at the last minute. Just the same, it was the KL experience I wanted to relive again, and with sunnier skies to boot!

On July 26th I said good-bye to my family, boarded my plane and took off.  I was pretty proud of myself, because my mom was in tears, even my dad was sad.  I was okay until I looked out the window on the runway, saw the Budweiser plant (only in Jersey) and started to cry.  My grandpa worked there and when I saw the spinning eagle getting smaller and smaller I knew I was really leaving. The girls picked me up at the airport, complete with a lei and all.  They had...

In the middle of the winter we visited south Spain. We slept in the city Tarifa and if you are there, it´s just a few miles to Gibraltar and Tanger (Morocco). The cultural life in Morocco was totally different and a little bit frightening. In Gibraltar we survived an ape attack ;) Sorry for the bad picture quality!

Windows of the World!!

Windows shape so much about how we see the world – physically, mentally&sometimes spiritually. It’s more than just a hole in a wall – but a portal to another place. The worlds’ windows tell me so much about the people, their architecture and how they chose to live and view their surroundings. Here is a collection of some of the more delightful windows I’ve had the pleasure of looking through in my travels… This blog will be continually updated... Here's looking through you!
