Paris, the city that needs no introduction. Who doesn't know the Eifeltower, the Arc de Triomph, Montmartre and Qaurtier Latin? Paris… What can I say that has not already been said by thousands? The answer to that question I do not know. All I know is one thing; when I'm in Paris, it feels like being home.

10 days of the Maldives - wonderful food, drink and a super spa, and 6 in Dubai - 45 degrees celcius each day minimum, more wonderful food and wine and another excellent spa. We had such a wonderful time, even though 5 of the 10 days in the Maldives the weather wasn't great. I want to go back... :D

When I was 25, embarking on a PhD, I did what many North American university students do, if they are lucky enough to have the chance. I purchased a Eurail pass and saw a bit of the Old World. This blog isn't about that trip. It follows the trip I took 3 years later, when I decided there must be more to life than the Ivory Tower. Unlike the cliches of the time, I hadn't set out to find myself. Nawh: I was bent on losing myself. & I've been lost ever since.

Over the next 2 months, I will explore the southern part of South America, traveling by plane, train, boat, bike, bus, and foot. I will wine-taste in Chile, hike through Patagonia, party on NYE in Rio, and recover on the beach in Uruguay. I will begin and end my trip in Panama where my uncle lives. I don't know what to expect, except that it will be one hell of an adventure. Whatever happens, I'm truly thankful to have this opportunity to see more of the fascinating world we live in.

For years I only talked and dreamed of traveling to the place of my heritage ~ Ireland ~ and in 2005 it became a reality. And the best part ~ I was able to share this trip with my two adult daughters. We hired a driver(so as not to get lost or worse)who met us at the Shannon Airport. My dream was coming true right before my eyes. I hope you enjoy my blog but please take time to look at the pictures of the people. They are the real Ireland.

There are many destinations around South East Asian people tend to go to. One of the less travelled is the Philippines. Somehow this country has managed to stay away from the main tourist crowds - even though they got some world class sight when it comes to diving and snorkelling and some great hiking as well. Put on top of this friendly people who almost all speak English this seems like the next big thing. But for now it is still peaceful with the exception of a few spot.
