barLo of Two Seasons Resort, Boracay Island Reviews
Earliest Happy Hour in Boracay! (...plus great food!) Apr 08, 2010
Nice title, huh? ;)
When you get a chance to go around Boracay you'll notice that each of the resorts and dining places have their own little gimmicks to promote the place. Some offer all-you-can-eat buffet (where they try to beat each other in terms of the food selection or the price per head) but most of them offer Happy Hour. :)
As you stroll along the beach, you'll find mini blackboards propped up infront of the resorts and dining places, each displaying their own Happy Hour schedule and promotions. Some offer half price, some offer buy 1-take 1, some promote their own special concoctions, but most have limited hours (3-6pm, 6-9pm, 4-8pm, etc.)...
Wait, let me explain further... Well, for me and my friends being at the beach means:
having fun, not worrying about anything back home, nonsense chitchat, long massages, eat-all-you-can seafood (or not) buffets, and most especially, enjoying the sound of the waves, the cool breeze and taking in the scenery with a cocktail (or beer!) in hand. And so, the half-priced drinks are something we look for during our, what, 4-night-5-night stay in the island...having a vice doesn't come cheap you know! ;)
This is where Bar Lo stands out when it comes to Happy Hour, the loongest one AND the eearliest in the island- from 1pm to 6pm! :D The bar offers buy 1-take 1 on cocktails, beer and pretty good discounts on hard drinks. Very accommodating bar tenders too~ they even ask you if you like it sweeter, stronger, etc.
Plus! They also have their own style of the Jelly or Jello shots! I bet you've never tried one like it (well, I've never seen the same special container that they use anywhere else...yet. Maybe outside the Ph? Have you?). The shots come in flavors, we chose the Blue Margarita. ;) Approx Php500 per jug.
Anyway, I'm sure you must be thinking, the food probably sucks... Nope, quite the contrary, I've tried quite a few of their dishes- and they're GOOOOOOOOD! Lots of choices, big servings, great flavor, and priced just right! They're also the first to serve Crocodile meat in Boracay -barbecued or crispy-calamari-style. Cool, huh? Try it! :)
Aside from the food and the cocktails, you might want to check out the beachfront as well... best beachfront in the island- Station 1! Perfect for sunbathing, wider beach, whiter & finer sand, and very few peddlers/boatmen to pester you (unlike in Stn 2 & 3).
Price range: Average to expensive, depending on what you order
Service: Super friendly staff even if you're not a resort guest (I stay there afternoons but am booked in a different resort)
So...you're picturing yourself by the beach now, huh? ;) Oh me too! Can't wait to go back, which I do same time every year (a tradition I started 5 yrs ago)! :D
