auw wiever bal Reviews
Feb 01, 2008
auw wiever bal is the start of the carnaval week, in Belgium we celebrate it also but a bit differently, I will try to explain you the way it is in Belgium. There are 3 big days; Thursday: the start, Sunday: the main day and Tuesday: beginning of the end.
Friday there not so much to see, Saturday it starts slowly and Monday: the die hards continue and Wednesday we eat herring and lots of people have to rest one week or more :) auw wiever bal means old women party, I hope I won't get any remarks about it, it's a translation, and the ladies find that an excellent name, they laugh about that, it's also none regular dutch but a dialect It is the day that the women can go party all alone without their husbands and they can let them go, in aother cities they cut the tie of man wearing a costume, most of men put their oldest tie on and can laugh with it I had the chance once to get my tie cut, but it's tradition that only older women stay alive, the younger generation doesn't do it |
