Australia has been occupied by its Indigenous population (the Aborigines) for at least 50,000 years. The mode of life and material cultures of Australia's original occupants varied greatly from region to region. While Torres Strait Island populations were agriculturalists who supplemented their diet through the acquisition of wild foods, the Indigenous Australians were hunter-gatherers, who boasted a sophisticated tool kit and outstanding knowledge of the land on which they lived. The face of Australia changed dramatically with British settlement, where it became a nation comprised of British convicts and free settlers.

Australia quickly grew from its penal colony past to develop itself into one of the most popular nations on earth. A country that inhabits an entire continent, Australia is probably the most unique part of our world. After splitting off from the Pangea millions of years ago, Australia managed to gain some of the most unique and interesting animals in the world. From the Kangaroo to the Koala, the land down under is seen as a place of adventure and exploring.

From Uluru to the Great Barrier Reef, Australia has many natural wonders that are must-sees. But it is the people, with their laid back, larrikin attitudes to life which make this far-off place seem like a second home.

We enjoyed a quiet lunch in a resteraurant overlooking the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island before boarding the ferry for Bruny Island. A short 15 minute ferry ride later we were disembarking onto the picturesque Island. We had one night booked in Mavista Cottages, near the town...

Back once again! This is my fourth visit to Sydney on my trip, but it just keeps getting better and better. What a city; the weather, the harbour, the coast, I'm constantly falling in love here. While I'm getting extremely pumped for Asia, at the same time I can't get enough of Syddy. This time I'm here to gear up for Asia and to meet up with friends and buddies. On my second visit to Syddy this trip, I met up with TravBuddy Allan (Codebeck). We met up, drank a couple of beers and wa...
