These change depending on my mood and just how much has been applied to the rose tinted spectacles, but Inter Rail in my early twenties with Mr Kevin Carney and my brother Mick provided some fun times.
Although I was young, I remember, way back in the early 60s when Brits abroad were very rare, my dad driving us to Barcelona. Easily done these days, but I bet not many folk have done it in a Reliant Robin van.......and he took it over the Pyrenees! Then, just to prove it wasn't a fluke or a one-off moment of madness, he did it the following year. Madman, but a great guy.

"Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. That way, you're a mile away and you have his shoes".

Well, briefly, I'm 50 and coped with the transfer from the 40s quite well I thought. I'm off to my travel destinations with my daughter. It's her 21st and she's recently set up home with her partner, so it's one last journey together? Or maybe they'll both tag along on the next one! It could be the making or breaking of us. :). I work in education, assisting schools in their use of modern technologies. Sounds mightier than it really is.

To Australia and Back

STOP PRESS: Severe homesickness meant she returned to the UK at the end of the Hong Kong leg. So it's Cairns on my own now. Daughter and I are off to Oz and back. She for 3 weeks and me for 5. Hope this blog and the accompanying reviews will be of use and moderately entertaining.

Lived in Hull for 30 years and never been on a North Sea ferry! That had to change, so off to Bruges it was.

Average priced "Nightlife & Entertainment" in Bruges, Belgium
This bar was recommended to me as something different from the majority. I'm not sure you'd bump into it unless you're curious about narrow alleyways... (read more about Staminee de Garre)
