Zoologico de Cali Reviews
Many stories to tell at the Zoologico de Cali Oct 26, 2009
One of the main attractions in Cali is the zoo, which is ranked as one of the best in South America, if not the best one.
To go there you have to take a cab or drive your own car. Buses don't drive there. It's located not that close to the center.
I don't know how old the zoo is, but it is very well maintained and most of the signs look new. When you arrive, you will get a map with the attractions and also there are many signs to help you find the better way to go where you want.
Inside you will find different animals from different parts of the world, but the main attraction are the animals from Colombia and Amazon. For example I learned that Colombia is the country with the largest number of ecosystems in the world: 99!
There is an aquarium, tropical birds', apes', reptiles', amphibious' areas, with local species, but also with some brought from other parts of the world, like Africa.
In addition you will find a very nice butterfly farm. Butterflies are flying free and you can watch and touch them... if they let you do so.
Also the birds are flying free at the birds' area.
The zoo has all the services you could need, such as a food court, playground, several restaurants, stores, restrooms, etc. So you can spend a few hours here just admiring the beauty of the nature.
They are open the whole year and the fee is
approx: US$5 per adult.
If you are in Cali, I highly recommend to stop at the zoo.
Part of the Colombia: only risk is wanting to stay. Few days in world's salsa capital: Cali Pachanguero! travel blog
