Zoo Park Frejus Reviews
Living nightmare! Nov 03, 2011
First of all, let me clear something: I hate zoos and circus. So if you are one of those parents bringing their children to zoo or circus in order to entertain them by watching animals doing things which are not in their nature or being caged, I politely ask you not to read this review. I think the lesson people teach their children by doing so is a lesson of cruelty and disrespect for other forms of life.
That been said, I`ll share now my own experience...
Despite my repulsion and disapproval for such kind of “entertainments” I ended up visiting a zoo… I was told by my friends that we will have a nice outdoor day in a huge park of 20 ha close to Cannes, with picnic and playing cards games, but no word about caged animals. To my big surprise and disappointment, when we arrived there I noticed it wasn`t just a park but a zoological park.
Entrance fees are 14 EUR for adults and 9,50 EUR for kids. For French Riviera this is not a big amount, but for this death-trap named Parc Zoologique de Frejus it is a VERY HUGE price you have to pay to see only dirt all around, malnourished and injured animals!
You can visit the place by foot or by car. Yeah, it`s great for both the environment and for animals to rule engines and spread noises and car pollutants all over the park. And so I asked my friends to leave the cars and go on foot, even though we speak here about a walk over 20 ha of land. They weren`t too excited about my request but didn`t protest either.
Chaotic landscapes with muddy roads (dangerously shared between pedestrians and cars) welcome visitors from their very first steps inside the park. The whole place is falling apart, crooked fences rust everywhere, animals are listless and don`t have the energy or will to lift their sorry heads. You can see that wolfs don`t look at all like wolfs but like stray dogs, hippos have injured sad eyes, monkeys are caged in small places where they keep pacing for there is no enough space to jump or climb… All cages are very small, very dirty and filled with weeds, animals don`t have much to eat so they fight for the cookies visitors throw them, not a single care personnel in sight for all 2 hours I stayed there.
What a terrible place, it is unbearable...
This zoo shouldn`t exist, it is only there to make money, not to work in the preservation of animals. So if you are a nature and animals lovers just avoid setting foot in this horrible prison and not fill the pocket of the zoo`s owners… Maybe the lack of visitors will force them to close this abominable place and bring these animals to live the rest of their lives decently, which is far from being the case in Frejus....
