So after a busy day at the Manchester Christmas Markets we decided to have a bite to eat before catching the train back home from Piccadilly. A number of restaurants were busy and had quite a lengthy waiting time for tables, however, on enquiring in Zizzi and being advised a table would be available within 10 minutes we opted to dine here.

We were shown to a small waiting area by the bar and given the drinks menu to peruse, service was swift here and a glass of Pino Grigo and a Tuscan Mojitio were ordered. They did not even have time to make the drinks before we were shown to our table, so they were brought over to us. The time we were seated was 5.50pm, plenty of time in our opinion to order starters and a main before our 7.35pm train was due to depart. Our food order was taken more or less straight away within 10 minutes of being seated - one bread bucket and one garlic bread with Mozzarella, mains ordered were Lasagne and a Rustica Primavera pizza. This is were our experience got progressively worse.

Behind us a table of two were seated and next to us a table of two and a table of four. The table behind ordered starters and mains after us, as did the table of two next to us (granted they only ordered mains) The table of four ordered starters and mains for all. All parties received their starters before us, obviously the table of two's mains came along at that point too. Our starters arrived a good 10 minutes after their dishes, clock watching at this point it was around 6.30pm. After eating our starters our plates were cleared and we were expecting our mains within 10 minutes at the most, however, the diners mentioned before all received their main courses before us. Clock watching yet again at 7.10pm we called someone over to enquire as to whether there was problem with our food order. The manageress (I assume) went over to the kitchen to enquire and came back with the explanation 'there is a bit of a backlog within the kitchen' when asked as to how long we were expected to wait after 6 people who had ordered food after us were now chomping down on their mains she went back to the kitchen and came back with the response of our food would be with us in the next 6-8 minutes, and would we like a complimentary drink - however, this would have taken us to at least 7.20pm, leaving no time what so ever to eat our main. Given this we asked for the bill - she was incredibly 'off' when she came back with the bill and said 'I've told the waitress to come for payment straight away given that you are in a rush' personally I think this was a terrible attitude and just added insult to injury. Needless to say we did not leave any kind of tip, and I actually thought that they should have not have charged us for the starters as an act of good will.

Needless to say I will not be dining in any Zizzi restaurant ever again.
