Ziferblat Saint Petersburg Reviews
Ziferblat - A unique and cosy cafe Jan 05, 2015
Ziferblat is not a regular café and I only got to know it because my Russian friend took me there. I was so glad she did, because I loved the concept of the place.
Basically, you do not pay for your drinks per se, rather for the time you spend in the café. You pay 2 rubles per minute and no matter how long you stay, once you have been there for 4 hours, counting stops and every minute you spend there from then on is free. The maximum you pay, therefore, is 480 rubles. A bargain.
Upon entering you are given an old-fashioned alarm clock, which is set at the time you entered. Once you leave, you give the alarm clock back and they check how many minutes you spent in there.
In between your arrival and leaving you can drink as much as you want. Don't expect a great variety of drinks, they serve mainly tea and coffee. And there's cookies as well, for those who like.
The inside look of the café is very cosy and retro. There's barely any regular tables with chairs, rather sofas and beanbags to make you comofrtable and create the feel of being home. If you like playing games, there's a whole bunch you can choose from and if you are there on your own there's books you can read as well.
The best thing about Ziferblat, except for the amazing and unique concept? The fact that because it feels like home, you're not just sitting at your table like in a regular café talking to the people you're with and locking everything else out. Strangers talk to strangers and it's a great way to meet new people.
