Chinese ancient culture close to Shanghai May 18, 2011
Zhujiajiao means "Zhu Family Settlement" is an ancient town located in the Qingpu District of Shanghai. Zhujiajiao is a water village on the outskirts of Shanghai, and was formed about 1,700 years ago.
It's a half day'er thing, and a good break from the big city of Shanghai.
You'll see old bridges over canals, running through this city, and old market squares. There is also beautiful parks and old structures. It can seem a tad touristy at places, but all in all it has a good original vipe
Highly recommend this place for some culture, and breathing space from Shanghai. This place beats Hangzhou for sure!
