Zenji Hotel Zanzibar Reviews
Affordable slice of paradise Jul 13, 2014
Perfectly situated near to Stone Town’s port – giving you the ideal reason to fend off the touts that inevitably assail you upon disembarking the ferry – Zenji Hotel is a cosy, friendly place with comfortable rooms, a laid-back vibe and enough little individual flourishes (petals scattered on your bed on arrival, exotic-sounding room names) to make it a charming place to stay.
The rooms all have air conditioning, a safe for valuables and immaculate linen. As a solo guest, I’m sure I had the smallest room, but even this featured a four poster bed with a very effective mosquito net: not a single bite in my two nights here! The shared bathrooms are kept clean with showers that produce reliably hot water. The rooftop bar has some pretty decorations on its walls, plus a book exchange, and serves a decent buffet breakfast, whilst Zenji also doubles as a café on the ground floor.
It’s probably not the cheapest place in town, nor the most luxurious, and while its proximity to the port makes it perfect for arrival it is perhaps a little bit ‘out of the action’ in the sense that it’s a bit of a distance away from Stone Town centre. But overall, a good place to stay, with first world levels of comfort at a price that won’t break the bank.

Nice and clean Oct 27, 2013
The Zenji hotel in Stone Town is located very close to the harbour. But you need to walk few meters to get to town. So if you are a female lonely travel, from downtown to the hotel can be not the safest path to walk alone at night.
The room were very clean, the staff, including the owners were very polite, and they were always giving more than was expected.
The bed was ok. Not very confy.
Compare with the other hotels and hostels I stayed in Tanzania, I found this one to be expensive, but have to said that was the cheapest I found online when I did my search.
