Zell Am See, literally translating to 'Zell at the Lake' is a superb little Austrian town in the state of Salzburg. Nestled between the mountains and by the large lake of Zell it makes for a perfect year round destination. Zell Am See boasts great ski conditions in the winter and is also in close proximity to many other great ski locations. This includes the year-round Kitzsteinhorn glacier near Kaprun. In the summer Zell is also popular for its hiking, riding and lake activities. The town enjoys a good mix of tourists and locals allowing you a more 'austrian' experience than some of the other more touristy locations. Zell has some great restaurants, shopping and a thumping nightlife.
