Worth taking a quick look Nov 14, 2010
Located near the Nejjarin Fountain and near Souk El Attarin, this site must be one of the most holiest, iconic and important buildings in Fes. You don’t really find it if you look for it, but you just get instantly drawn to the crowds if you are nearby and I stumbled upon it by accident.

The site is the resting place of Moulay Idriss II, who founded Fez and ruled Morocco in the ninth century. Non-muslims cannot go inside to see the artwork and the tomb itself, but the building’s façade is impressive. Inside, you still get to take a quick peak from the outside. From what I saw, the tilework and ornate nature of the building is amazing.

If you are visiting Fez, this site is definitely worth taking a quick look at. The site is such an important part of the city’s history, and of Morocco’s as well, so you’d be mad not to have a quick look.
