Today got quite nasty! Things until now went quite well, but when something goes wrong…. Disaster!
I woke up at 7:30am today, quite late if you consider that I have been getting up at 6am almost every day. I put on my bathing suit and went to the beach to do some jogging! Today I ran for almost …

That sums up the last few days here on the island of Zanzibar. We literally worked our way through a bottle of Jamaican rum while lazing in the shade reading books. We headed up to Nungwi (northern beach area) after a few nights in Stone Town. Our hotel looked right out onto the o…

I'm not sure I should write about Zanzibar... I know people love it, and it's supposed to be so great and all. And maybe it's just me. But honestly, I'm so disappointed I could cry.
Ever read the book "Dreaming of Zanzibar"? Well, if you have, that's what I expected. Long, white, perfect beac…

My last day on this gorgeous island was far too short. I spent the entire morning worrying about making it back to Dar Es Salaam in time to get on my 9am flight from Dar to Heathrow and drove everyone mad in the process. In this part of the world, I neither felt comfortable nor did I see it necessa…

I did a 4 week overland trip in Africa. from niarobi to Victoria Falls! It was so good, we went through tanzania, stopping at Zanzibar. I did a side trip and went to the serengetti and Ngorongoro crater. then went through Malawi, Mozambique, & Zimbabwe. I had no problems in any of the countries, met some awesome people on the truck. walked with lions, saw cheetahs kill a gazelle and did a bungee jump!

Zanzibar. What can I say? It may be a touristy place but it's absolutely gorgeous. Even after hours of swimming in the sea I was still amazed that I could see my feet and tiny fish swimming around me. It was like paradise. Not only that, in contaray to the mainland of …

After climbing and freezing atop Mt. Kilimanjaro and seeing the amazing wildlife roam and getting chased by an angry hippo on a safari, complete your most challenging leg of the "Tanzanian Triathalon" at Zanzibar basking in the warm clear water and living it up with newly forged friendship at the local drinking hole.

...and so to Zanzibar!
Four nights on this tropical island which, as Denise accurately stated, is like diving into a postcard!
We took a VERY slow drive that morning to catch the ferry (we had to cross a small estree of water on a mini ferry first, which was rather scary at boarding time when the…
