Zamek Ogrodzieniec Podzamcze Reviews
Black dog with blazing eyes or the headless horseman? Jan 17, 2016
The ruins of the castle Ogrodzieniec in Podzamcze (approx. 60 km north of Krakow) is one of the most beautiful castle ruins in Poland. For this rating they deserve not only because of its picturesque location on the Krakow-Czestochowa Jura, but also trough to a very good renovation. These are also the largest best preserved ruins in Poland. The castle was built in the system "Eagles Nests" (castle strongholds on the Krakow-Czestochowa Jura built for defensive purposes) in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
The ruins can be visited. Tourists are also made available to many attractions, such as food stalls, room executioner with instruments of torture, dungeons, treasury, inn.
According to local tradition as by paranormal investigators castle is haunted by ghosts. Apparently, one of castellans soul wanders the castle as a big, black dog with blazing eyes. In nearby villages that Castellan is seen a as the Headless Horseman.
I highly recommend to all fans of fortifications, the history and medieval castles.
