Great Fleminco Dancing May 17, 2010
For 17€ we were able to see great fleminco dancing.
The Zambara Maria family is located in a cave in Sacromonte, a neighborhood in Granada. This area is popular because the residences are caves built into the hills of the area.
The family sets guests up in a U shape in front of them so every member of the audiance is seated directly in front of the small dance area. As they dance you can feel the wind created by their dresses.
The music is played by a guitar and through the practiced clapping of the other family members. Most all of the family danced or sang the traditional songs. Even though I couldn´t understand what they were saying during the songs, I could feel the emotion they were conveying.
I highly recommend attending a Flaminco show and this was a great place to do it. Tickets can be purchased all around town or directly from this cave. The show starts at 10pm so arrive a few minutes early to get settled. It includes one sangria drink but no dinner.
