Zamboanga Airport Reviews
General Information - Zamboanga Airport Nov 07, 2009
The airport in Zamboanga, Philippines is in every way a small, regional airport. There are only 4 airlines serving it & none offer direct international flights; you would have to connect through Manila or Cebu. The airport has only 1 runway/landing strip, which also doubles as the taxi-way. It is, however, paved and long enough to accomodate the Airbus 320 jets which are operated by Philippine Airlines. Embarking/Disembarking is a short walk across the tarmac. The terminal building is presently open-air (without air conditioning) but there are plans to enclose & renovate the structure. In fact, the renovation has already begun, albeit slowly. The restrooms (comfort room/CR) have been renovated, making them the cleanest & most modern part of the airport. As for as other facilities, there are none. There are no bars or restaurants in the terminal building. There are some establishments outside & across the street but you might be better off waiting. There is one shop inside the waiting area, if you want a snack or magazine. You will need cash because, as of this writing, the departure tax is 40 Pesos, to be paid as you clear security.
There is another item worth mentioning. I had a flight to Manila cancelled due to typhoon (in Manila). Unfortunately, this somehow affected the computer systems at Zamboanga airport. The airline employees in Zamboanga were unable to issue boarding passes (for any flight) or do anything else until the computer systems in Manila came back online. |
