The Journey to the Top... Kinda
posted by:

Exhausting. That's one word to sum up the trek. Most of it took place in a valley that seemed to be created by the eruption that took place long time ago. Our trek started with a kinda steep descent down the 'rift valley' where we would walk for most of the trek. By the way, Jen and I were wearing t…

I woke up at 5AM because I wanted to take an early walk on the beach as the sun rises. It was still dark outside when I went out of the cottage, but Pam and Rhea were already awake because they're going to wait for the fisherman to come ashore and buy fish from them fresh from their morning cat…

Mt Pinatubo: Now and Then
posted by:
Mar 20, 2008 – Apr 10, 2009
A friend who works in Singapore invited me for a day-trip hike in Mt. Pinatubo. Since I am out of job right now, it was so easy for me to accept her invitation especially when she said that she would be paying for the 50% of my fee as her christmas gift to me. I so love her, she was my sugar mommy …

Not My Usual Valentine

In 1991, after a long period of dormancy, Mt. Pinatubo, was awakened.  Hundred of Pinoys injured, almost a thousand died, more than a million displaced, and properties and livelihoods destroyed.  A catastrophe.   At that time, I was in Cotabato City, my hometown, located in Mi…

As I've found out the hard way - the danger of getting satisfied with a photo upload and rationalizing that you will write the travel blog at some better time -- is that you lose complete momentum in going back and really writing your travel piece. Moreover, if you failed to take notes during your …

Zambales has been gifted with the natural beauty of its surroundings. It has been touched by civilization yet has maintained its rustic glory and beauty. The Zambales coastline is most famous for its sandy beaches and deep blue sea teeming with coral reefs. That very day was an eye-opener… the day I realized that the paradise is just within my reach!

This was taken last September when I went to my hometown. This was the last time I was in the beach with my buddies. God, I miss them sooo much! ;) We attended the sea procession with the statue of Our Lady de Peñafrancia on our last day.Went around the islands for about 30 minutes to an hour. yeah, I got a bad sunburn! We ate a lot of local specialities - kinunot, crab, adobo, natong, etc. And even if we looked like contestants in that survivor series - it was a whole lot of crazy fun. ;)

The Potipot Island of Zambales: Zambales Travel Photos
posted by:

I spent my Holy Week from the long coast line of Zambales. It was such a great experience.. discovering the north-western part of the country. The summer waves were so inviting. Though the heat suffered me much but the water... the water... so blue. And the cumulus clouds... and the islets just around the corner . Potipot Island is one of those 5 to 10 minute boat-ride from the mainland. A very small secluded islet that you could make a round for 20 minutes.

After thinking about a unique theme for our team building, we finally settled to have an overnight camping activity at Anawangin Cove in Zambales. With no mobile phone signal and no electricity -- it's practically down to the basics. The view at the cove is marvelous, and I am literally taken by it.
