If you don’t have anything better to do - visit Polish mountains in the autumn. :o) The colours and views are just picturesque. The atmosphere idyllic and restful.
But while in the mountains - remember! Don’t stand in a highlander’s way. In case if you consider yourself daring – don’t be surprised if you end up with a fork stabbed in your back! :o)) Yeah, of course, I’m exaggerating! Still, highlanders in Poland are as passionate and traditional as any other highlanders in...

During my last week of finals, I was so tired of school and my room that I was somehow forced to stay all the days, that I was ready to go anywhere as soon as my last exam was over. And so on the next evening me and my best friend were sitting in the train on our way to Zakopane, which is on the other side of Poland from the place I live in. Although we had to travel 13 hours by train, then half an our by bus, then we had 2 hour long walk to get to our hostel, we were both happy about upcomin...

After how wonderful Kinga's first tip turned out to be yesterday, we decided to see her second advice, Morskie Oko, too. This little lake is out of town so we had to catch a bus to bring us nearer. The trip is rather short and the sights on the way are really beautiful.Visitors to the Morskie Oko (I've been told it's name means Eye of the Sea) are dropped of some 8 or 9 kilometers away from the lake. From there on you enter the national park and so cars can't go any further. For those who don...

Upon waking up, I noticed there was a goat tethered in the back yard of Danuta's place. :D Always an interesting sight.
The train ride was long and hot. I guess because it was a Friday, it was also packed (though, you'd think people would be going FROM Krakow TO the mountains on Friday, rather than the other way around...) we had trouble finding two seats together in second class (which we had tickets for). So we sat in first class, alone in a compartment (except for one m...

Some of our group decided to take a weekend trip to Zakopane. We spent two nights at the Good Bye Lenin Hostel which isn't particularly close to the town part, but right near some mountain paths. It was a particularly cozy place to stay & I'd definitely stay there again. On the bus ride home, it got particularly foggy, it was a great atmosphere. :D

My cousins own a bed and breakfast in Zakopane, Poland, and invited us to stay for a few days while we were traveling around Europe this summer. It was our first trip to Poland. Zakopane is beautiful and I can't wait to go back!

Me and the boyfriend Jeff arrive in Krakow and receive a bad email from the tour company that I had booked a trip with to go down to Biakla Tatranska, which is in the Carpathian Mountains to do some snowboarding. They said, due to the lack of snow on the mountains, the trip has been cancelled. But we find out the hostel we're staying at (Good Bye Lenin- a nice friendly hostel that helped us out tons, the only - is that it is kind of out of the way) has another...

Enough of the city life in Krakow, heading south. Zakopane is a lovely skiing village on the Polish side of Tatra Mountains, near the Slovakian Border. We camped up in a hostel called Good Bye Lenin, which was a great great little log cabin run by a polish and argentinian bloke.
The reason for heading to Zakopane was to get some walks in. As we always seemed to do we timed our trip shockingly and ended up not being able to walk most of tracks as they are still under snow. We did get up to o...
